Enemy Mechs not firing?

Been noticing this behavior recently and it is bugging me. When doing a mission, either the enemy mechs move and never fire, or fire just a medium laser at my mechs. Now, mind you, this makes missions insanely easy because I can go through an entire mission and come out of it with my armor barely scratched, let alone any serious damage having been done to me, and pretty much a curbstomp of enemies by my lance.

Often I am completely ignored by enemies until I get to extremely close range, or the enemy just fires one or two weapons at me, even when they literally have no heat build-up at all. And it is not happening consistently in every mission, sometimes I get shot at, and sometimes I don't, but I am wondering if anyone else has noticed this behavior in enemy units in their games?

Interesting that nobody has replied to this. I have found the same issue happening, though when it does, the enemy rarely fires or moves at all. Like you say, frustrating but easy money.

I have reserved actions for numerous turns after visual and sensor contact, just to see if anything happens and when it's the enemy turn, they are highlighted then do nothing. After taking out a couple of mechs and moving forward to a closer engagement, what's left of the enemy start to act.

I am running CAB V2.4, hesitating the update to V3.6, so maybe this problem has been addressed with the update.

I am running BEX CE 1.8.1.4 (which includes the Performance fix) and I have also noted this behavior from time to time.

It seems weirdly intermittent, but definitely some enemy mechs just seem to attack less than they should.

I actually wonder if it might be a feature, rather than a bug, as I seem to notice it more in CQB situations where mechs who take a pasting, will sometimes back away and not return fire or only fire one laser.

Almost like the pilot got rattled, panicked a bit, and just bugged the hell out.

Weird, but not unrealistic behavior. And it does make the game easier, which I don't think is a benefit.

Anyway, can anyone shed any light on whether this is a cool feature or a weird bug, and if the latter, any solutions?

Thanks
