Failed to load master-/userlist + duplicate entries

I am using the latest version of Vortex (Just re-installed it in an effort to solve this issue) on Windows 10, with a custom install location. I currently only use Vortex to manage Fallout 4 mods, but do not currently have any mods installed because I just uninstalled all of them to start with a fresh slate. I'm getting 3 interrelated errors that I don't know how to resolve.

I have two "Failed to load master-/userlist" popups, both citing armorkeywords.esm as the problem. When I click "More details" I get this:

Error: More than one entry exists for "armorkeywords.esm"
at c.handleResponse (D:\Games\Black Tree Gaming Ltd\Vortex\resources\app.asar.unpacked\bundledPlugins\gamebryo-plugin-management\index.js:45:83721)
at Socket.e.on.e (D:\Games\Black Tree Gaming Ltd\Vortex\resources\app.asar.unpacked\bundledPlugins\gamebryo-plugin-management\index.js:45:82567)
at emitOne (events.js:116:13)
at Socket.emit (events.js:211:7)
at addChunk (_stream_readable.js:263:12)
at readableAddChunk (_stream_readable.js:250:11)
at Socket.Readable.push (_stream_readable.js:208:10)
at Pipe.onread (net.js:594:20)
There is also an orange pop up that says "Duplicate Entries" and asks me to purge the duplicate entries in a file called "userlist.yaml"
I followed the directory it gave and found the file, and successfully opened it with Notepad, but I am hesitant to make any changes to it without knowing for sure what I am doing.
As I said earlier, I just reinstalled Vortex entirely hoping it would make these errors go away so I could get on with my fresh mod installation, but it did not resolve this. Any help is greatly appreciated.

PURGE the entries as in pushing the PURGE button in Vortex. not manually edit the file

First turn on Advanced Mode

Then push PURGE

Then REDEPLOY the mods

Hi there~

Thanks for your help.

I did purge all the mods using the purge button as part of the uninstall process before I re-installed vortex. I tried it again just now, but that didn't do anything, and there are no mods to re-deploy because I have all of them uninstalled.

The three errors are still present, unfortunately

If you have everything uninstalled then there shouldn't be any entries in your user list.

Rename the userlist.yaml to something like X_userlist.yaml and Vortex should regenerate a new one as you start installing mods (I suggested renaming the file so you'll still have it if something goes wrong)

Backup "userlist.yaml" and then open the file, remove the duplicate entries, save the file, and then play your game.

Edit. Just now saw HadToRegister's response. Follow his advice.

Thank you!

I ended up having to rename both userlist.yaml and masterlist.yaml, but it seems to have generated new ones and the error messages have gone away. Hopefully that fixes it. You were very helpful :)

Guest deleted34304850

i had this last week. it's a PITA.

I'd changed the group for a couple of mods and somehow this got written to the yaml file as two separate mods rather than one mod with a changed group. i ended up having to go into the yaml file and remove all traces of the mods from the text completely.

no idea when this started to happen, but its a pig to resolve.
