First off are you doing manual installation or using a mod organizer (I personally use Vortex since it's distributed by this site). Second would be making sure that any plug-ins are enabled (Vortex makes this a second step for some reason). Third would be if you are meeting all the listed requirements for the mod. Many mods need Skyrim Script Extender you can click on the link I just gave if you don't have it and if that is the case make sure you grab the SE build not classic build. There is however a bug with current SKSE that will crash to desktop so hoping they update that soon. If nothing here helps just list what mods are involved and someone can probably help.
