Save Game tab shows older saves instead of most recent

I've already sent feedback through Vortex, but I wanted to see if anyone has had similar issues. I have had no other major problems with Vortex before.

Which version of Vortex are you on?

-- Using 0.17.8, issue has also occurred with 0.17.7 and possibly older.

What game are you trying to mod with Vortex?

-- Skyrim (32-bit) Legendary Edition, latest update from Steam.

How many mods do you have installed?

-- 783 mods active. I don't know how to find # mods installed.

What environment are you running Vortex on?

-- Windows 10 64-bit 1803, 16GB RAM.

The issue is that, when a large number of saves is in the Saves folder (I have tested with over 2800, I don't know what the threshold is), the Save Games tab shows the last autosave (from 6 days ago) and saves 2 weeks or older. The message about only showing the most recent 200 saves appears as well. However, my actual most recent save is from last night, and since I am a habitual saver, I have over a thousand (yes, that's correct) saves more recent than the ones it shows. My saves in testing number from 2749 to 4166, while Vortex only shows 2749 to 2948, plus the autosave at 3886. Actually, now that I have checked the earliest save, it appears that it's showing the oldest 200 instead of the most recent, which I did not realize when creating my report and is probably helpful information. Another thing to note is that I only have two autosaves, since I have autosaving disabled, but there are points in the game where an autosave is forced, specifically before facing The Caller in the quest Hitting the Books, and when entering the room with the Aetherium Forge in Lost to the Ages.

If any more info is needed, just ask.

EDIT: When I moved the rest of my saves into the default save folder (they were in a folder called SavesOld, in the My Games/Skyrim directory), Vortex showed the saves 1, 11, 100 through 117, and 1000 through 1117, despite there being saves numbering between those. What I'm guessing is that the ridiculous number of saves I have is somehow breaking the algorithm Vortex uses to determine which saves to show - maybe an overflow error?

Also, I forgot to add, when I remove saves so that under 200 remain, all displays normal.

Thank you for your post and for sending feedback about this problem. I too have the very same problem with Skyrim SE, Enderal, Fallout 4, and Fallout 3. If I have more than 200 saves, then Vortex no longer displays the most current saves on the Saves page. (I'm assuming here that 200 is the save limit before Vortex gets confused.) However, actual game play is not affected in the least. When I go to a game load menu, the current saves are always displayed.

In addition to the Saves page problem, my Enderal game has a special problem that may or may not be related. When I activate Enderal, all my current saves (if less than 200) are displayed. However, when I go to the Enderal load screen, I'm informed that there are no game saves. Fortunately, the problem is easily remedied by pressing "Deploy," which restores the saves to the Enderal load screen.

Did you click on the FILENAME or CREATION TIME Column to sort it?

Yes. With less than 200 saves everything is fine. With more than 200 saves, problems develop. Sorting the columns didn't help.

I'm assuming 200 saves is the magic number because of the notice that appears when you have more than 200 saves. I haven't actually tested this with, say, 220 saves. Anyway, I had a huge number of saves (I'm a save game hoarder) when the problems appeared.

Wow, your save games folder must be absolutely massive!

Anyway, I have relayed your report to one of the devs. We don't often get feedback regarding this since - I assume - not many people create more than 200 save files per profile.

Does your profile have the save game feature enabled? (i.e. "This profile has its own save games")

Did you send your feedback in with a different account? There is no report from your username/id.

Yeah, it's over 20GB, easily :pinch:

Profile save games are not enabled for this profile (though other profiles have it).

Odd that you're not seeing it on my account, it's definitely this one. I even noted my username in the report itself. I attached all the possible "special files" I could, including the app state and stuff. Maybe that was too much lol

EDIT: Hmm, I don't see it under "my issues" either. I'm sure I sent it though. Maybe I accidentally toggled "send anonymously"? I do remember giving it a few shifty looks when making my report. Or is there a cancel button that appears next to "submit feedback"? I remember clicking the submit button, and I think I got a confirmation, then it went back to a blank form. I'll try submitting it again, linking to this post.

Oh, maybe there's a character limit? It was pretty long winded lol.

If you don't mind, could you send your feedback in again?

As for your savegames...

Could you do the following:

1. press the windows key + R

2. type in %appdata% and hit enter

3. go to Vortex/skyrim/profiles there should be a bunch of folders named something like "1akrQSaoD" - those are all your profiles.

If you could just zip those up and make them available to me (through google drive, for instance).

That would be ideal.
