Hi all, just curious if anyone can answer this question. I plan to upload a Settlement Blueprint, and am wondering about how things work on the Nexus. So I'm at a point where you must credit people, and I realized as I was compiling a list of names of people who's mods I've used in the build, and found some mods I used are now hidden or just completely gone.

With this in mind, I wanted to still upload, but since those mods are removed or hidden, is me uploading this mod or having requirements for the mods used, will this count as a strike towards "using assets without permission?"

I'm not a moderator, but if you don't have (often written) permission to use a third-party asset in your mod then yes, you would be using the asset without permission and would be in violation of the rule. Edited by Reneer

Cool, but how about mods that were using ingame assets? As an example, I want to upload my Settlement Blueprint, but it requires a mod known as CvC's Dead Wasteland, which has since been removed on the Nexus. With this in mind, is it still okay to upload my blueprint? And if people wanted the file for the mod, would I be able to recommend sites that have the file available, or even provide the mod itself?

Settlement blueprints are a weird case because, although you used someone else's mod(s) to make it, you aren't including any part of their mod, and their mod is a requirement to use the blueprint. I recommend you just say "Thanks to the makers of all the mods I used to make this blueprint." in the general text area, then list all the required mods, with links, in your description.

Basically, if it's JUST a blueprint and nothing else, just list the mods needed to use it and link to them (or describe where to find them if the is to a...questionable place).

Oh wow thanks! That really helps out. I'll give it a try, and hope I don't get banned hahaha

You could certainly still upload your blueprint and say that it requires CvC's Dead Wasteland, but since the mod has been removed from the Nexus, linking to outside sites that have the mod available and the mod was not uploaded there by the mod author would probably not be allowed. And you definitely couldn't provide the mod yourself without permission from the mod author.

Yeah, just to parphrase what everyone else said, Transfer Settlements blueprints are absolutely fine to upload. You aren't including any assets from others. If the person(s) using your blueprints don't have any of the mods required, all that will happen is that those specific items won't be imported. That's it. End of story. So maybe a building is missing all of the beds. Okay. The building and rooms are still there. Or perhaps the exterior wood of the building will look different, and not exactly like your's does. Not a big deal, truly. Upload your blueprints in confidence that everything will turn out okay. Nobody will be banned, and nobody will die. :D
