Help with Dizzy Mod Starter Guide - game loads but mouse not totally working

New to Oblivion and have been spending the day reading how-tos, recommendations, etc. and getting setup on the latest and greatest mods for my GOG installation running on Windows 10 with a fairly recent PC with GeForce GTX 1070. I found Dizzy's guide which was straight forward and well done. Dizzy - thanks for the guide! Note - I tried posting this request for help on GOG, but the forum doesn't seem to be working.

I got up to the first test milestone in the guide, ran BOSS, ran the Bash Patch creation - unclicked the conflicts when it popped up and asked - made sure to say Yes at the end.

The game fires up (via OBSE launcher link in Wyre Bash) and loads, and I can see at least some mods are working - namely the map screens are completely redone.

Problem => my mouse works on the main menu (before a game is loaded) when I first enter to restore a saved game, but once I load a game and try to go into the inventory menus and see the map screen, the mouse does not work. The mouse works fine outside of inventory - I can move and look and swing my sword - just not in inventory.

Any clues as to what might be causing this and how I might resolve it? Wyre screenshot attached of the Mod screen.

Hmm, I'm not seeing anything inside the guide, or your load order, which could cause this.

You might want to disable "Book Jackets Oblivion - BP.esp", as you don't have BP so the patch can't work, the guide is also not showing it inside the load order, and WB is telling you so by the color and sign on the left. But that shouldn't have to do with the problem at hand.

So if you're in inventory or menu, do you see your mouse cursor, it just won't move when you do? Or can't you see your cursor at all?

Maybe worth trying to deactivate/disable joystick support (it's an INI setting, also discussed further down the guide in the Bashed Patch settings), as it's known to cause issues with certain joysticks or gamepads or on certain systems, interfering with/blocking your mouse, when you're also not using it anyways.

Other than that I'm afraid I'm at a loss right now.

Thanks DrakeTheDragon - I'll mess around with those thoughts today. Good question on mouse doesn't work - I should have been more specific. I get a cursor, and moving the mouse moves the cursor, but left or right clicks do not work - only in the inventory / journal menus. Everything works fine in game.

Update - disabled joystick in the .ini - messed with Book Jackets and now I was getting a crash so I removed Book Jackets from the bash patch altogether. That seems to have done the trick. Games load and new games start, and mouse is clickable inside the journal screens. So that seems to be fixed. I was having an issue with the smaller fonts not working, but I also go that fixed.

So I think I'm good to go for now. I may move on to the next set of mods, or I may stick here and enjoy the game like this for a while. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Yeah, when you deactivate a plugin, it's always worth recompiling the bashed patch, else (parts of) it may still persist. Normally deactivating the plugin completely, then recompiling the patch, should take care of it appropriately, but it never hurts still checking yourself to be safe.
