What is Project Kanawha?

Project Kanawha is a Total Conversion mod for Fallout 4 that has been in the works since 2015. The goal of Project Kanawha is to explore the coalfields of Southern West Virginia within the Kanawha Wasteland. Project Kanawha is a love letter to a series that's inspired us all and to a state that often gets a negative rep while also re imagining it as a world fit for the Fallout Universe.

AS PROJECT KANAWHA HAS BEEN IN THE WORKS FOR SO LONG, it is not meant to conflict with Bethesda's canon 76; Project Kanawha instead is meant to compliment it. Project Kanawha explores locations not featured in the canon game.

Story of the Coalfields

The remains of the Kanawha Wasteland are that of a land that's stood the test of time -- unphased by the Great War's fires of destruction, the denizens of West Virginia's former Coalfields have continued to rebuild and thrive in a world on the brink of devastation. Yet all is not well in the wasteland; with feuding factions on the brink of an all out war to control the mines of the greater coalfield, you end up as the deciding factor to determine the fate of this forgotten land.

Current Roadmap

Project Kanawha is currently anticipated for a release many years down the line. Although work has started in early 2015, many things about it have changed until the idea was finally solidified early in 2018.

Videos

We currently have one video exploring the town of Kimball in it's early alpha state. The video is a culmination of five months worth of creation kit work.

Hey everyone, we here at the Project Kanawha team are proud to present you all a small update for the April 2019! Our team has been hard at work building up the Kanawha Wasteland for all you intrepid Wasteland Explorers out there! We hope you enjoy!

Our level designers have been hard at work breathing life into the landscape around the Kanawha Wasteland, merging both nature and the remnants of humanity together to create a truly overgrown environment.

That's not all that's been worked on, however! Our asset artists are also hard at work creating unique props to make the Kanawha Wasteland feel as truly unique.

For example, this sign for Kimball Elementary School has been lovingly crafted by our team to help bring a pop of color into the Kanawha Wasteland, as well as to help it stand out for our fellow wasteland explorers.

This is a mod by fans for fans; it's our mod as a community; we've been able to accomplish what we have thus far with your help and support; and we here on the Project Kanawha Team will always cherish and appreciate your feedback and continued enjoyment. Thank you all, and we hope you've enjoyed our update for April of 2019!

( Jeez, has it been almost a year since we updated this ? Whoops. )

Hey y'all, just an update from us on the Fallout: Kanawha team that we're far, far from dead; while we're intentionally keeping to the shadows, we've been making a ton of progress behind the scenes.

We don't want to give away too much of what we've been doing, but from what we can reveal . . .

Fallout_Kanawha_Logo.png
We've finalized our logo and officially rebranded as Fallout: Kanawha ! We've also been working hard creating a brand new world space just ripe for exploration and discovering the curiosities of Post-War Waste Virginia.

For example, you can now explore the remains of the city of Bluefield; this is just a taste of things to come with Fallout: Kanawha.

Of course, in order to make this happen, we're recruiting additional help ! Our team is 15 strong, but with everything going on, we simply can't produce what we've planned to, at fault of nobody but mother nature.

This is why we're holding a recruitment drive; as a project by fans, for fans, we'll gladly welcome aboard new talent for those wishing to contribute to our token to a series we love.
