Is it necessary to set fallout.ini file to not read-only?

OK - this is very Fallout 3 specific.

I checked my Fallout.ini - and my file did not have the Vortex reference shown by Augusta in her last 4 lines.

I went into Vortex / Fallout 3 / Settings and found BSA Redirection under Workarounds.

I turned that on - and Vortex updated Fallout.ini, Fallout.ini.baked, FalloutPrefs.ini, FalloutPrefs.ini.baked, FalloutPrefs.ini.base, and Fallout.ini.base.

Now my ini file matches Augusta's.

Conclusion: For Fallout 3, Vortex needs to modify your ini files. Keep them RW.

Also: Set BSA Redirection in Vortex if and only if you do not use another Archive Invalidation mod.

General note: A lot of games have game specific "features" in Vortex. These are implemented in the game extension. Settings is a good place to check for them.
