.mod3 mesh editing messes up weights

Hi I'm new to modding. I got Blender to import mod3 files with Asterisk's plugin.

 

But whenever I make any edits to a mesh, such as deleting some vertices/faces, and then go on to export the mod3 file, the weights are all messed up

For example, I edited an outfit mesh, but when I exported it the edited version does not align correctly with the player model

I get this warning when I export the mod3 file.

Do I need to adjust the weights or something? Any help is appreciated!
