[LE] Very Important question about the how the dragons fly in Skyrm

Recommended Posts

Hi I have a question that i just cant figure out. So how the hell do dragons fly in a world space without clipping.

Now I pretty much know everything about Skyrim and creation kit BUT! how the hell dragons fry without going through objects in the Tamriel Worldspace.

I thought about it and was thinking it was the LOD that they avoid but just tested it in my custom Worldspace, no they still clip, I can not for the life of me figure this out!

There's a height field in the worldspace record that tells them where all of the objects are. When you look at the files in xEdit, you should see this as the MHDT subrecord under WRLD. You should be able to generate this data in your mod by going into World->Generate Max Height Data For World, and then selecting your worldspace from the list.

You can also generate updated height data for individual cells and that will show up in the MHDT subrecord attached to a CELL. For those you need to find the specific cell in the Cell View window, right click on it, and there should be an option to generate height data.

Curious. Are they by chance for scenic purposes? There is a solution for that if so, where they can be any size and just fly around using a transform controller similar to what birds use. This requires modified behavior graphs though and placing them as an object not an actor. By shrinking them down (if necessary and you can with this kind) you can give them an orbit that won't visually pass through anything. I have a worldspace where I have that going on and its pretty neat

The dragons use Havok behavior, which controls to a large extent where they can fly. The game also has dragon landing markers that have been strategically hand-placed placed to influence where the dragons land and minimize clipping.

In case you were addressing me. Whether he wants them as aggressive actors or not, this is an additional option as well in general. Doesn't matter to me just a community release resource I have been preparing for release. So mentioning it since it brings new options to the table, and they can be scaled without looking like they were in a car accident

Was gonna blow that off but yeah very rude and that was very clever btw. Sorry if this went over your head

What I was talking about. Changing the way they behave. No wild orbing etc. Works on actors too but that would need script. Just a genera cool thing that can solve ur problem Anyway done here and sry for any confusion
