FO3: How can I find out what content is missing?

Hi all.

This isn't exactly a Vortex question, but a general mod question.

I've just been through a complete and total system meltdown and had to reinstall Windows and start from scratch. I managed to back up *some* of my mod archives, but not all of them.

My last save before the crash was about 2.5 hours into the game. The previous ones are less than 30 minutes. I know I'm supposed to make multiple saves, but, my bad.

Anyway, I've reinstalled most of the mods I know of, and most of my older saves will work. However, the most recent one gives me the warning of "Relies On Content No Longer Available", and then crashes the whole system to the desktop.

Is there a way - besides trial and error - to figure out which content it's trying to find?

Thanks for any tips.

Open the Saves page.

Select one of your remaining saves.

Use the right side dropdown that says Restore mods. This is not perfect - it only looks for plugins like .esp.

All your cool texture mods will still be unknown...

But is gives you a starting point. Get the ones it lists - and iterate.

I seem to have found it. I overlooked one of the technical patches (either Unofficial Patch or perhaps the 4GB patch), assuming those were already done. I re-installed those, re-installed the 4GB patch, and everybody is happy now.

The bad news is that my laptop seems to have become sensitive to overclocking with Afterburner. I was letting it do it's automatic OC-profile thing last night and it BSOD'ed. I don't know if it's a thermal event or what, but I think I'm just going to steer clear for now.

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. I'll probably need them in the future.
