I was trying to create an ultimate mod folder for Dragon Age Origins so I'd never have to redownload all the mods I'm using again...

After solving the mysterious missing Jowan head (creepy), I soon encountered a new problem though:

 

All Dalish Elves are now naked. Or, well, my Warden and Tamlen are. I haven't really tested beyond that so far.

 

Now I removed a lot of mods and put them back in to see if it would change anything... but I'm slowly getting exhausted...

Because the issue is: I installed most mods manually unless they were dazip mods, in which case I used the daupdater.

Which essentially means I can't simply check every single mod now and they're kind of... mixed together.

 

I don't really want to start from scratch, as modding to this point already took a long time (there's just too many mods that make it a better experience nowadays after years of, well, passed time.)

 

So what I'm essentially asking is:

Any idea what could cause this? Is there any type of file I should be on the lookout for or anything that would affect this?

 

I do have Ferelden Elves installed as well as Grey Wardens of Ferelden and Improved Atmosphere, but also their fix... although removing any of those didn't seem to matter.

 

It also affects only the Dalish Warden (and Tamlen and thus potentially all Dalish), meaning City Elves are free.

I've never used Improved Atmosphere, but a glance at to mods page shows there is also a 'fixpack' for the current release, downloadable from a sticky in on the comments ('Posts') tab (but not, as far as I could tell, from the 'Files' tab). Have you also downloaded and installed those fixes for IA? (The listed issues include "Fixpack 6: Certain items had the wrong ModelVariation ID set, which resulted in certain items and NPC's being invisible. This has been fixed." which sounds like the issue you are experiencing.)

 

Note that NPC equipment is 'baked into' saved games when a map is first accessed, whether an NPC has been encountered or not. You'd need to start a new game to see the impact of removing or making changes to NPC-altering mods on origin story NPCs like Tamlen.

 

DAO modding pro-tip: installing override mods with the files in discrete, mod-specific folders, rather than 'mixing them up' makes it easy to troubleshoot issues and uninstall unwanted mods. The exception to this would be mod installation instructions to specifically merge and overwrite files, as with compatibility patches, fixes, and the like.

I just tried that after reading your response, totally missed that comment, but it didn't seem to change anything...

 

And yeah, I know - I always started a new safe to test if my Warden or Tamlen would be wearing clothes again. Sadly, they did not so far.

 

I do have those mod-specific folders for the most part, actually! I even have folders to place said folders into to ensure I know where I put my things.

The issue is just that at some point I stopped checking if everything was still in order and just kept putting more into the folders... and then the hunt began... yeah.

My apologies, I misunderstood what you meant by 'they're kind of... mixed together'.

 

 

What mod (or mods) is creating the 'dazip' folder in your override? (I've never seen that before, so I'm trying to understand what it is...)

 

Likewise, what are the 'Dragon Age Awakening' and 'Dragon Age Origins' folders?

 

Is the IA Fix folder just the Fixpack or is it the mod files + the fix? And where is 'Ferelden Elves' installed?

 

And try this, if you will: rename your 'override' folder to something like 'override.BAK', which will remove all override mods, leaving only your DAzips installed. Start a new test game and check if Tamlen and the Warden have gear. If they don't, then the issue is a DAzip mod. If they do have gear, that's a 'known good' state, so you can then reinstall your override mods in small batches until the issue reoccurs and the culprit is revealed. (I'd reinstall one at a time, testing after each mod is added, but I'm pretty obsessive about my installs. :geek:)

The dazip folder is just where I gather all dazip files before installing them... seeing how they don't really affect the game until they're installed anyways, I figured it couldn't hurt.

The good news is: It was Improved Atmosphere after all! (Granted, a second mod temporarily affected things as well, but that's because I accidentally moved something)

I had to remove two .utc files to make it work, and luckily it finally did!

 

I temporarily had to deal with this gem here, though:

From naked to the invisible man. Together with Jowan, he makes one actual person (don't worry, as I said, Jowan's been fixed).

So I guess I gotta start searching again. Sigh.

Glad the equipment changes are sorted out! :thumbsup:

 

One way to figure out at least the file names of the missing skin textures would be to count the ticks on the slider to that texture (with '1' being the furthest left position). Then open the merged chargenmorphcfg.xml in a basic plain text editor - I use Windows Notepad, or Notepad++ - and find the section (at the very end) that begins with

<resource name="uh_hed_fema_0d"></resource>
<resource name="uh_hed_elfa_0d"></resource>
<resource name="uh_hed_kida_0d"></resource>
<resource name="uh_hed_masa_0d"></resource>
<resource name="uh_hed_dwfa_0d"></resource>
<resource name="uh_hed_quna_0d"></resource>

 

Those six skin textures are the vanilla Bioware textures and will be the first six positions on the slider. Count lines to the slider position of the missing textures and make note of the info between the two '' marks... that's the texture file name.

 

If you are lucky, the texture will be one that is easily identifiable from its name... modders often use things like their initials or modding nick in their file names.

Hi what .utc's did you delete? I have been trying to do this over and over with the files in the Dalish Elves Folder in IA and still my elves are naked.

 

Trying to get one last 'immersive' playrhough and aside from my elves being nudists, I am not sure what to do.

The equipment information in an NPCs UTC file is 'baked into" the game saves once an area map has been entered. To see the effect of deleting a UTC file, be certain to roll back to a save file from prior to accessing an area: for the Dalish origin, that would mean starting a new game: and for the Nature of the Beast arc NPCs, prior to entering the Brecilian Outskirts.

I am getting the female elf without a body in creation and even if I put clothes on in the game and take them off she goes invisible - the only part of the clothes that appear on the male in the creation is the gloves and boots - I just don't know how to fix this - I do have AI installed but not sure what to remove or overwrite - please help
