So after getting Oblivion yesterday, I installed the GOG version of OBSE and it started up and loaded properly at first, but as soon as a save finished loading, the game would crash. I didn't have this problem using OblivionLauncher. I don't know what is happening to make OBSE crash on me.

my load order is:

I tried did a new save on the non-OBSE Oblivion game to make an uncorrupted save and loading it in OBSE but it crashed before it even finished loading

I've fixed my issue with OBSE crashing as soon as I load by extracting all the files to Oblivion instead of just the dlls and the launcher and it fixed the problem. The only problem I have now is the fact that my game freezes when I'm in the main menu, settings menu and character menu and don't move my mouse for longer than 10 seconds

I use LOOT to sort out my load order and I haven't cleaned my mods yet

I also installed 10 mods before loading the game

...I haven't cleaned my mods yet...

I also installed 10 mods before loading...the game

Both of these are bad ideas. Especially not cleaning! Are you insane? UDR's, ITM's, and stuff... These are game killers. And a batch install is only good for reinstalling mods you know are clean and have used before. As in if you are doing a fresh install/rebuild.

Seriously though, get tes4edit. Clean EVERY mod, even those that claim to have done it already.

Step 1 ... install the game.

Step 2 ... start the game and insure in runs and Oblivion.ini is created.

Step 3 ... install OBSE, start the game and insure that OBSE.log reports a good start.

Then start installing mods, one at a time and test thoroughly before moving on to the next mod. When the game stops working you will have an extremely short list of possibilities tostart troubleshooting.

Yup, sounds like the slow way, but it winds uo being the faster way far more often than you would guess at first blush.

So after loading up TES4 Edit to clean my mods one by one, my log came up with something peculiar:

TES4Edit 4.0.2 (F796EF8E) starting session 2019-07-01 17:31:17
Using Oblivion Data Path: c:\program files (x86)\oblivion/\Data\
Using Backup Path: c:\program files (x86)\oblivion/\Data\TES4Edit Backups\
Using Scripts Path: C:\Users\som\Downloads\TES4 Edit\Edit Scripts\
Using ini: C:\Users\som\Documents\My Games\Oblivion\Oblivion.ini
Using save path: C:\Users\som\Documents\My Games\Oblivion\Saves\
Using plugin list: C:\Users\som\AppData\Local\Oblivion\Plugins.txt
Using settings file: C:\Users\som\AppData\Local\Oblivion\Plugins.tes4viewsettings
Using language: English
Using general string encoding: 1252 (ANSI - Latin I)
Using translatable string encoding: 1252 (ANSI - Latin I)
Loading active plugin list: C:\Users\som\AppData\Local\Oblivion\Plugins.txt
Fatal: Error loading plugin list: <EDirectoryNotFoundException: The specified path was not found>

The path it used to find my saves and plugin list was correct but the path for the backup path and the game files/data was completely wrong as I have them saved on Program Files and not Program FIles (x86).

EDIT: I moved my Oblivion game files to Program Files (x86) and now it works with TES4Edit smoothly but I'm afraid it'll cause problems with Wyre Bash

EDIT 2: thanks to the power of Auto Clean, I've been able to clean my mods without having to look at old threads and readin the outdated guide
