[LE] My Creation Kit is completely broken (and I don't know why)

Whenever I try to load an exterior cell in the render window, the ground doesn't load properly. It's covered in jagged black and grey textures. Other times, there's nothing but blurry blobs that only faintly resemble the ground, and no static land objects will appear, like rocks, trees or roads-- yes, even when showing terrain. The interior cells load fine, but the landscape looks like a checker board had a seizure.

 

If I try to load a particular wilderness cell outside of, say, Whiterun, it won't load the cell and will instead just load Whiterun. Maybe because it's the only thing it can load.

 

Each cell looks like it's completely randomized as well, and there's no uniform design to them. Here's what it looks like:

 

 

 

 

 

 

One other problem was that it randomly decided to start working (but only broke again after I loaded it back up), so I began to edit the terrain for my mod, but the changes to the terrain didn't take any effect in-game. Yes, I had saved the esp in the kit, and other changes I had made did show up.

I've uninstalled the CK and reinstalled it. No dice.

 

Since one of the mods I have is incompatible with another, I was trying to add and remove certain things to make them work together, so because I'm so obsessive, I can't play until I fix the problem, and I can't fix the problem until I fix the CK, and I couldn't fix the CK after trying everything, so I need help.

Preliminary debugging strategy:

 

1. Load up just Skyrim and any DLC in the CK - do you still have this problem? - if not, its not the CK, if you do then you may need a complete re-install.

2. Load up the CK, Save a new esp the nload with Skyrim and any DLC - do you still have this problem? - if not. its not the CK, if you do then you may need a complete re-install.

3. Load up your mod and Skyrim and any DLC in the CK - do you still have this problem? - if not it's another mod you may have previously been loading as well, if you do its a problem with your mod.

I only loaded Skyrim.esm. Problem persists.

As I stated in my first post, I've already reinstalled the CK, and the problem still occurred.

 

I noticed that after trying to load only Skyrim.esm, it automatically forced a load of all DLC along with it. When I tried loading only Skyrim.esm again, it crashed.

 

I successfully restarted it and loaded only Skyrim and Update. Problem persists. Also the errors window is going crazy.

Your mention of an errors window suggests to me you are using the SSE ck. In which case it may have some unique problems and you would be better posting issues on the nexus SSE forums not this tired old Oldrim forum.

 

However, if you are running Oldrim and getting this problem and you have reinstalled the ck I could only suggest a verify game files and if that doesnt solve it a game reinstall.

You can always have Steam check your files and replace/add anything messed up.
Just make sure to back up your .int files / configuration files.
It's always a good ideal to back up the whole folder too.
