main menu hud problems

Hi there. Been trying to fix this for a while now, to no avail unfortunately.

The main menu hud is missing. No text is visible but the ''boxes'' are there, they can be highlighted. The boxes are however sized wrong, these tiny and wide strips, completely messed up. I'm using Mod Organizer 2, archive invalidation is checked and MO's own ini is disabled. And yes, I've made the ini changes for DarnUI.

Here's my modlist. Note that It begins from the bottom. (I don't know why the file writes it like this)

It has to do with the sequence in which you install your various plugins that affect XML files (such as oHUD and WMM as well as DarnUI): the "install order". Please see the wiki "HUD-UI-Menu issues" article.

Dubious himself.

I've been on that page before and I'm not sure if I fully understand whats being written there. What suprises me is that this was never a problem before. I've had plenty of FNV installs before and they all worked just fine without any special hassle with hud mods.

I'm always open to trying to make things clearer. Unfortunately, I try to do that from the start, so I need feedback as to what remains confusing. (That was the very first Wiki article I wrote for FNV, so there were many things I still had to learn at the time.)

In general, the problem arises from different plugins replacing an XML file used by more than one. Which, like with normal plugins, means the "Rule of One" is in effect. And we don't have a mechanism to reconcile "record level conflicts" except by manually editing the XML file in question or changing the "install order" sequence.

With DarnUI in particular, it is so popular but also changes the font size and placement that many plugins with XML files need to detect it has been installed earlier so they can adjust for it (or not). The result is that DarnUI needs to be installed early, and then ensure that certain changes "win". That is what the "Last XML Override Files mods" section is about. If you don't read the earlier "details", then the summary probably won't make much sense unless you already have the understanding it attempts to convey.

However, only the most popular HUD mods are covered in detail. For others, you have to extrapolate based upon the concepts.

It all depends upon the particular plugins which are installing or replacing XML files.

You wrote that page? Impressive.

And to clarify, there's nothing wrong with your writing, I'm just having a difficulty wrapping my head around this xml conflict because this never happened before with previous installs. I wonder why it's an issue now. Ah well, I'll just have to figure this out with the information provided. Thanks.

Edit: I removed all hud_main_menu.xml files from mods yet the menu text is still invisible. I don't understand.

Edit: Removed all hud mods expect Weapon Mod Menu, Mod Configuration Menu and Project Nevada. Vanilla worked fine though, so no problems with game installation.
