Creating Custom Bodies for Individual NPCs/Followers

Hello! I'm trying to create custom bodies (in Bodyslide) and then assign them to specific NPCs in the game (Lydia, Jordis, etc). I want certain NPCs to have completely different body shapes and body textures from the other NPCs in the game - and bodies that are completely distinct from one another (Lydia's body is different then Jordis's, etc).

If you know of any way to do this, please let me know!

Here's how I'm currently going about it:

My plan was to build the body I wanted in bodyslide, save the files, and then copy/paste those files into the body files for the NPCs I want to edit. I've run into two problems:

1) After creating my body in bodyslide and pushing the 'build' button, it gives me the following message.

8a6f7f05b8233e584bbf1557f5db1c5b73b7f5ab

The problem is, I can't find these assets (femalebody_0 and femalebody_1) anywhere in the Skyrim SE data folder. There is no \Meshes folder in my Skyrim SE data folder, nor does any other folder seem to contain these assets. I have no idea where these files are being saved to - thus, I cannot copy them and use them to edit individual NPCs.

Here's what my Skyrim SE data folder looks like:

e7010643c7ae061e0260a90d36eb01feb6d62c1a

That's my first problem.

2) My second problem is that I have no idea where the body files for individual NPCs are. I am not even sure if they exist. I suspect that NPCs /don't/ have unique files for their bodies, but instead draw from a generic body file somewhere in the game. I understand that there are some follower mods (like Bijin) which can correct this.

I use Mod Organizer 2.2.

Any support you're able to give me in this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Problem 1: Using MO2 means that the bodyslide output is in your mods folder, not the actual game folder. Check your body mod folder and the output will be in their. You can also in the right pane of MO2, click on the data tab, and navigate to the said directory and it will tell you exactly which mods folder the bodyslide output was copied into.

Problem 2: Open whichever npc replacer you're using and navigate to meshes/actors/character/........ and just look in each folder until you find their body files, if they have them. A high number of npc replacers use their unique bodies, only a few use the base game directory.

  • 4 weeks later...

I have a question about using a custom body.

I'm using a mod that makes mannequins use a separate body and I'd love to completely remove any and all physics from the body.

It's made of wood, or stone, it shouldn't be bouncing and jiggling!

(I'm also hoping this may fix my framerate issues when going into a cell with 100+ of these disturbing mannequins).

Thanks.
