Modded Weapon Issues - NPCs have no guns

First off I have typed this up originally in the Steam forum but I'm branching out - Long time lurker, first time poster.

Hey all,

First off I'd like to say sorry if this post is in the wrong place - please feel free to move it.

(This may be quite long so TL'DR at the bottom)

Recently I've rekindled my love for the game, so I decided to spend a few days building a mod list (About 150 mods). So I'm using Nexus Mod Manager (Community version) and LOOT to sort everything, also F4SE. Once finished I sat to play and the first 10 hours were fine.

Then the issues started - Around level 15 - A random raider sat outside sanctuary for 3 days straight, when approached he rushed me with his bare fists - thinking nothing of it I continued into the wastes only to be greeted by a random raider patrol of 5 guys - ALL having no guns what so ever. Even "POI hotspots" were producing large groups of raiders, all unarmed.

So I did some digging online and founds it's probably weapon mods fighting with each other - I've read there 2 ways to implement weapons in the level list and the most safe is script injection. I went and removed a few older mods and tried my save again - the random lone raider was still unarmed but the 5 had a few 10mms between them and the rest - still unarmed. I even went all the way down to Diamond City and went after the "Green Paint" quest, Demo and his goons were unarmed and armed themselves from boxes nearby.

NO OTHER NPCS seem to be affected by this - not even gunners.

I appreciate I will have to start a new game now and that's fine but I really need some help to prevent this from happening again.

First off if you see a weapon here that has issues - please let me know as I can remove it from the list and cut down my load.

I can provide ANY information needed in tracking down the issues - I would do it myself but I have NO CLUE on how to use any of the tools provided to me - I really don't mind doing it myself as long as someone can hold my hand in the process.

Can you sense the desperation to play in my text?

(TL;DR - Level 15 - Raiders ONLY spawn with no guns - Mod list attached - Need to find mod conflicts - Is uneducated in subject - Send help)

Download Wrye Bash: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/20032

 

Run it - on left pane window, scroll right to the bottom, right click on Bash Patch,0 - Click on Rebuild Patch - then Click on Build Patch, on the new window that pops ups

 

Ensure Bash Patch,0 is always the last mod in the load order

 

Rebuild it every time you add or remove a mod that edits Leveled Lists.

 

Wrye Bash will merge all Leveleds lists, ensuring every mod that uses or modifes them all have an equal chance of having their content appear in game.

 

Without a Bash Patch, all leveled edits will override each other, which will also nullify each other.

 

 

LOOT is not reliable for Correct Load Order Management in Fallout 4

 

Load Order must be sorted Manually, by Experienced users.

 

you will also need Fo4Edit, from conflict resolving

 

 

try the wrye bash method first, if you run in to the same issue again, then i will offer further assistance.

 

a New Game will be required.

Thanks for the assistance GAMEWINNER, another user on Steam said basically the same thing you did - I've downloaded Wyre Bash and followed all instructions and made a bash patch and a new game. Even checked in FO4 Edit and very minimal conflicts were found.

 

In all honesty it was only the weapon mods causing conflicts (I presume) as the rest of my mods are hand selected to not mess anything else up - They're all quality of life mods/mob replacers etc. Nothing major changing cells or adding.

 

After starting my new game last night and spending around 3 hours in settlement mode - the game seems to be running faster, which is I presume due to the game not trying to sort my mess of a load order of guns out.

 

As an unexperienced user is there an easy way to sort a load order? I've always used LOOT since my Skyrim days and it hasn't failed me yet.

 

If you could look over my load order I would be most greatful - There is one ESP I have left unchecked which recalibers the AKM from standard 5.56 to the Nuka World 7.62 - I didn't want this so left it out - Also was removed from the Wyre Bash Patch too. (It was red and had no tick in the box)

 

(Also discalimer - The SSEX ESP is Settlements Supplies Expanded - Nothing crude XD)

As you can see I'm not one to heavily modify the game beyond recognition, I'm more of a "Enhance Details" and adding guns kinda gun.

i am thinking the issue is connected to Raider Overhaul, it is a very old and outdated mod, that has a lot of bug reports, due to its requirements being much more updated then the mod itself., i recommend removing this mod. that will most likely fix the issue with raiders spawning with no weapons.

 

i used to run Raider Overhaul myself for a long time, and ran into a lot of issues in that time, however due to how much i liked the mod, i was refusing to believe it was the mod, and wanted to believe it was my own setup, but after doing a lot of mod management over the years, i came to the conclusion that raider overhaul was indeed the culprit and is very buggy. after removing it, all relevant issues i experienced disappeared.

 

 

so yea, Delete Raider Overhaul, and i strongly believe that will Eliminate the Issue.

 

try that first, a new Game will definitely be Required. if you run into the issue again, after Removing Raider Overhaul and starting a new game. then i will take a proper look at your mod list and advise in load order.

So a little heads up;

 

Played around 6 hours with all mods (Including Raider Overhaul) and everything seems to be working fine - ALL items/weapons/clothing from RO works fine and weapons are appearing at a much better and more mixed rate. I'm presuming due to my lack of overhaul mods this is allowing RO to work fine - Obviously I may get errors down the line but I'll cross them when I get to it.

 

Just wanted to say thanks GAMEWINNER as your idea has seemed to work for me - No I am confident with Bash Patching I will never go without one again.
