[WORKSHOP][SETTLER][UTILITY] Sweep & Retrieve

EDIT: Request has been basically resolved! Use...

- Auto Loot to quickly sweep an area of its items;

- Salvage Beacons to have your settlers haul that s#*! back.

Noice!

-----

So you just cleared a dungeon, you enjoyed killing all those enemies but then your fun is ruined by having to roam about in order to painstakingly pick up every single item to maybe finally be able to afford those weapon attachments you were after. Boooring! I don't wanna do that s*** for the upteenth time on my millionth playthrough! Why should I do it when I got so many slaves- I mean settlers at my disposal? Let THEM do the hoarding instead!

The closest mod that does this is Salvage Beacons. Great mod! However it still requires the player to pick up objects. Maybe it could be used as a base for this here mod? Should its author consent to that of course

Anyway, my idea for this hypothetical mod is as follows:

- implement a workshop item to which can a settler be assigned (the aforementioned Salvage Beacons uses a custom radio station for example). Now you have the ability to issue Sweep & Retrieve orders;

- only for interior cells of locations marked as [CLEARED] can you use Sweep & Retrieve;

- through your map, hover the cursor over your target location like you normally would to Fast Travel. Click: other than Fast Travel, Place Marker and Cancel, the mod adds another option called Sweep & Retrieve;

- every single item inside the selected (cleared) dungeon will be transferred into your workshop. Which workshop? Either give the player a pop-up menu upon issuing the S&R order or let him configure their preferences through a MCM/settings holotape, allowing him to select a destination workshop;

- in order to make things potentially easier albeit less immersive, I suggest not having any settler walk to that location, but just have the items be magically transferred, WITH the caveat of a certain delay from the time you issued your Sweep & Retrieve order. Meaning, the items will be in your workshop after like a day or two (I suggest to have this be a configurable option);

- I was thinking it can be used only for one location at a time? So you cannot issue a S&R order for another location while there's already one S&R order being executed;

- when you revisit a location that has been S&R's, you'll see it stripped of all items. I was thinking the mod targets all items (meaning more than just junk, if possible, so weapons, armors, aid, misc) left in the open in an interior cell but doesn't touch containers. It will still be up to the player to clear containers and loot bodies (possibly configurable option?);

- if possible, I recommend S&R orders to exempt unique quest items (meaning it won't pick them up) or to remove locations containing unique quest items out of the targetable locations list altogether.

OR

- scrap the whole settler thing and add a special terminal for the workshop;

- the terminal gives you the "Sweep & Retrieve" option > "Please select a location" > The player is given a list of targetable locations with interior cells. Preferably, the terminal shows only locations you have already cleared;

- if that is not possible, if the [CLEARED] distinction cannot be made here due to engine limitations, the player will be able to use the Sweep & Retrieve function on every location from the get-go, even on locations that haven't been cleared. Of course this is pretty game breaking and would require the player to play fair and only choose locations they know they already finished, but I'm still listing it as a sort of last resort.

This is all I have to suggest. Good idea? Bad idea? Possible? Impossible? You decide!

Have a good one lads, cheers

Here is the problem: most locations and misc items in them are not PERSISTENT.

That means when the player is not there to activate the cells, stuff can not be "found".

To "find" stuff, every cell and item the player activates with would need to be stored PERSISTENT.

Its totally doable, but would be one of those mods that happily causes cell reset mayhem and crashes games.

Like auto looting that transfers quest items. Oops.

Shiddd! Ok ok what about, an AID item called just "Sweep": it makes your screen go black for a second and transfers all the in-the-open items in the cell you're in directly into your inventory. Then, one can use the aforementioned Salvage Beacons afterwards to send it all to your settlement of choice. Would that work? The Sweep item I mentioned? Would it be possible for such an item to exclude quest items so it doesn't screw up playthroughs/cause crashes etc.?
