Playstation Input Prompts

Hi,
I started playing Greedfall yesterday, and so far, i love it ! But as nearly every other pc game, it doesnt naturally support Playstation input promts.
Or so i thought. Ater some googling i found something about unchecking your Playstation Gamepad Configuration Assistant in Steam. I did so and
hey, the Icons are now the Playstation ones, not the Xbox ones anymore, which means that they are supported, or rather, that the image files for
Playstation inputs exist.
Problem is, the Controller wont work without the assistant or DS4Windows (which i guess both emulate an xbox controller) is running (I' dont get any response ingame).
It is connected via Bluetooth (did restart the gamepad after unchecking the assistant as required) and it is recognized as a Dual Shock 4 in the windows settings, which is correct.

So basically my question would be: How can i get my Controller running AND have the Playstation icons.

A workaround would be to simply exchange the files or the path from where the game gets its input image files from. I'm completely new to modding,
been using the nexus site for years now for skyrim but i never created a mod myself, so I don't really know if it is that simple, but i guess you get my way of thinking:

-Game gets Xbox input prompt icons for Xbox Controller,
-Game gets PS4 input prompt icons for PS4 controller (with said issues)
-Tell the game to get the Playstation Input prompt icons when it thinks theres an xbox controller plugged in.

Is this a thing? If this could work that way i would read up on this and do it myself. Any tips on google search terms for this are appreciated.

I'm sick of pressing X when the game want's me to press Square. Who even came up with putting a blue X on two different controllers but on a different position...

This Site is superawesome btw !

cheers

small update: When i plug in the controller via cable without the use of any apps (no steam assistant, no ds4windows) It works with the correct prompts.
However it doesnt work that way when connected via bluetooth, so the problem could be my bluetooth connection/driver/device/whathaveyou.

Still if it is rather simple to switch the image files for prompts in the games ressources as mentioned above it would be an easier workaround, i guess.
