Crashing In Concord

I've sorted with LOOT, used Fo4Edit to clean, started a new play through, verified game cache, reinstalled the game, deleted the inis to have new ones be generated, disabled every mod I have... nothing. I still keep crashing upon entering. The game will stutter, freeze, then crash. It can't be my PC since I've run it just fine before.

 

I did move the Documents folder over to a different drive, but that can't be affecting it, can it? If I don't go into Concord, it doesn't crash, but I need to. Please help. I literally can't play the game how I wish if this problem persists. Thanks for reading.

as well as GPU, CPU (all 4 cores if applicable) and System Memory Usage and Temperatures (use Msi Afterburner) take screenshot in game or record then link picture/video here, preferbaly in a demanding area such as downtown boston

 

sounds like a hardware based issue, such as insufficiant Vram - due to Stutter and crashing, without mods, which i would assume minimal demand, since mods especially texture mods will use a lot of Vram.

LOOT is redundant in Fallout 4, which means your mod load order is no doubt wrong.

 

 

Initial thoughts. This doesn't seem likely to me since it's helped me (and presumably many others just using a basic Google search) keep my mods in check and if it were a mod/mod load order problem, then if I disabled them all, as I've done before, the crashing should cease, right? I don't mean to question since you're taking the time to read this, I'm just a little confused. Never the less, I'm desperate at this point, so if you think it'll help. Here it is:

Note: I've also disabled all mods and used a save game cleaner just to test and see if the crashing would cease. Still failed.

Please tell me if I missed anything. I'm afraid I'm not very experienced when it comes to finding out my system specs.

 

I should note that I have been able to run Fallout 4 many, many times successfully in the past. But now, after coming back from a hiatus, I no longer can. I have also run MSI Afterburner while in game, but it doesn't seem to be detecting it. I'll figure it out tomorrow.

I FOUND THE PROBLEM. It's Preston Garvey! For some reason, in my game, he's glitched. One time, I loaded it up and it worked and I kept seeing him with missing textures and such, but I didn't think too much of it. But because he was always the one thing out of place, I decided to just load it up and spawn him in. When I did, I crashed. That's why I keep crashing when I try to enter Concord because he's supposed to be there fighting off Raiders!

 

Ah. Still, I'm very pleased right now. At least I know what's causing the crashing. Now I need to figure out why he's not loading correctly in my game. I'll do this tomorrow.

did you do that in an active playthrough ? or before starting a brand new game.

also the issue that you mentioned in the primary post would be very hard to believe that a single NPC will cause the game to Stutter, Freeze and then Crash (unless they are wearing a piece of clothing or armor that has an extremely high polycount or their character model is extremely high in polycount, these 2 would trigger stuttering and freezing, and then eventual CTD, where as if the issue is to do with a corrupted mesh, then that would result in an instant CTD), aside from that, as such it sounds very much like a hardware issue, which is why i edited my primary post only requesting hardware specs and usage.

Does Preston Cause you to CTD without any mods enabled ?

I moved the Documents folder and then started a new play through. Also, yes, I'll admit it's very unusual since I've never seen this before, but I'm following what the clues are pointing at. I've never had too many issues running the game before (usually some stutters in the Boston area, but that's about it), so if it was a hardware issue, I feel like that would've come up when I first got the game. Yet I've been playing it on PC for a few years now.

 

All I know is I try to enter Concord, I crash. The few times it works, I see Preston Garvey looking very unusual. I try to spawn him in next to me away from Concord, I crash. Ergo, he may be the problem. I didn't have mods enabled in the right pane of MO2 at the time, but they were in the left pane. For example, my character's body replacer was still intact. So tomorrow, I'll try getting rid of mods that edit Preston's appearance in some way, be it his clothes or his face. See if that does it.

For me the issue was unique npcs because of the requirement of the hd dlc
