I have been trying to mod Fallout New Vegas for the past 4 days. I am a complete noob, i have no experience with this. I started by uninstalling all of my mods and fresh installing Fallout New Vegas. I watched a video created by TerraRysing on youtube who basically took me step by step on what to download and when to but some how i am still running into crashes..... If anyone could please give me a hand i would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you,

Waxycrab

Please see the 'First Timer Advice' section; and the 'Common Game Problems' section of the wiki "FNV General Mod Use Advice" article.

In particular, work your way methodically through the "Common Problems" section. You have many of the issues covered there.

If the problem persists, then see either the 'Solutions to Starting the game problems' or the 'Solutions to "Crash To Desktop" (CTD) problems' sections in the wiki "Fallout NV Mod Conflict Troubleshooting" guide.

I recommend anyone read the entire "FNV General Mod Use Advice" article to understand the differences between this game and others you may have experience with; especially if this is your first attempt to play a modded FNV or it's been more than a year since you last did so. It is designed for someone who has never played a modded PC game before, so it tries to avoid making any assumptions.

FYI: Questions like this belong in the "Technical Support" sub-forum.

Don't worry about "outdated". If you see more than one mod that does what you want, only then pay attention to when it was last updated. (This is most important with mods that "fix" base game problems.) Otherwise, read the comments on the mod's page to see what problems people reported and if they were fixed. As long as a mod works, it can be from any time since the game was released. And not all problems affect everyone equally. Sometimes the problem in a mod is something you just never use or care about.

Also, don't worry about a mod requiring another plugin such as "NVSE" or "JIP/LN NVSE". Those are additional programming features that some mods require, but don't hurt anything if a mod doesn't use them and they are well established commonly used components. Older mods aren't going to use some of their newest features, but mostly they just enable new features in new mods. But if a mod says something like NVSE is "required", then you absolutely need to have it installed for that mod to work correctly.
