How do i diagnose which mod is making my game crash?

When ever i start a new game everything is fine. I load up and edit all of my MCM things and everything is fine. This particular character is starting at the riften inn. I leave the building and everything is fine. I can spend as much time in the center area of riften for as long as i want to but the second i decide to transition "rooms" but using the doors it crashes on the loading screen. I've tried reloading to before i even left the inn and I've tried disabling various mods but it always crashes in the same circumstance. I was looking up directions on how to diagnose mod issues on https://levelskip.co...nd-Windows-Grep and it says to click on tools then select ini editor. This tool will apparently give me the information to determine which mod the crash is being caused by. In the article it mentions if you use mod organizer but what do i do if i have vortex? Or if anybody just has another way to diagnose my problem without having to load it up multiple times with different mods enabled, that would take too much time. Thank y'all.

Don't use that guide. It's not a good method for diagnosing crashes at all, and the author basically solved it by fluke (Dragonborn wasn't installed). For one thing, the Papyrus log is not a crash log and is not very useful for finding crashes. For another thing, Dragonborn.esp doesn't even exist, so that error would always happen. The real DLC file is called Dragonborn.esm. Also, that step with the Windows Grep tool was unnecessary and not very informative.

NMM, Mod Organizer and Vortex can alert you to missing masters, which is what the problem was. In Vortex, I think it shows up as an error if you install or enable a mod with missing masters.

Unfortunately, there isn't a straightforward way to diagnose crashes. You can post your mod list here, but no guarantees. It could be incompatible mods or missing patches. Or it could just be too many mods. As for "taking too much time," crashes can be hard to trace, so you may well have to disable mods and test yourself. Skyrim modding does take some time commitment, especially if you have a lot of mods.

Best advice: Read the requirements for each mod and be sure to follow any installation instructions.
