Critical hits on Squadsight, is it possible?

I only wish to revert Squadsight changes in EW and enable it to crit again. Since you can only do that by Hex editing I tried to give it a shot, but I can't find squadsight values with UE Explorer. I tried following the steps detailed here: https://wiki.nexusmods.com/index.php/Hex_editing_UPK_files#Hex_editing_I:_changing_single_values

Looked through XGAction_Fire, XcomPerkContent, XGAbilty_Precision Shot. Couldn't find it.

And tried to use this as an reference but I can't seem to find it anywhere, guess I just don't know what I'm doing.

Searching throught the forum I found this post by Amineri and Drakous79, I guess it can help but I don't know where to go after this:

 

 

I haven't dug fully into the new perk/ability system in EW, but EW has 171 perks and 95 Abilities, so there's definitely not a 1-to-1 match. For some reason ePerk_Squadsight (3) has a corresponding eAbility_Squadsight (50), even though Squadsight isn't an active ability, but this isn't generally true. By active I mean something with a button in the tactical HUD.

For example:
ePerk_BulletSwarm (26) has no corresponding ability
ePerk_SnapShot (16) has no corresponding ability

My guess is that Squadsight was singled out because of their changes to crit chance for squadsight. I suspect that at squadsight range the usual eAbility_ShotStandard (7) is replaced by eAbility_Squadsight (50), and that the removal of critical chance is accomplished in this way (which explains why eAbility_HeadShot still has crit chance).

Firaxis does a similar switcharoo when a Heavy gets Mayhem ... the ability eAbility_ShotSuppress is secretly swapped for eAbility_ShotMayhem ... it has identical icon, and help text, and gets loaded into the same HUD slot, so it appears to be the same ability, but it isn't.
Squadsight snipers can crit with Headshot. There are two native functions - CalcCritModFromPerks and CalcCriticalChance.

I've been out of the XCOM scene for a number of years now, but it was never as simple as finding a single hex value to change by looking for the plaintext equivalent in a hex editor. If you look under the "Mod Creation" category of the Nexus XCOM Wiki, you will see there are 12 articles on "XCOM Squad Aim Penalty" aspects alone, and it was one of the most heavily studied. You also need to see the "Table of Perk Codes and Offsets - XCOM:EU 2012" and "Native Tables - XCOM:EU 2012" articles as well IIRC.

 

Hacking XCOM is almost a full time career. All the "code divers" moved over to XCOM2 when it was released. Ocassionally I see one respond to a question here, so there is some hope for you, but you might have better luck seeing what they have discovered over there.
