Patience is a Virtue

OK i have made it to the reckoning mission and died about 16 strait times. So lets me restart on missions after tutorial

1) Be not in a hurry to recruit the first available pilot. Look at their skill level and make sure the skill matches the mech your putting them in. For example if you pilot has a 1 energy and 3 ballistic. You really do not want him/her piloting a mech that has all lasers. Put them in a ballistic mech

2) Tonnage is important somewhat. In the beginning it is easy to run 150 ton missions at 120 or even 130 or 140 there is not that big of a drop off. So do not be in a hurry to increase tonnage work your areas and move to the next.

3) Do not abort missions in launch stage. The penalty is reduction in salavge. your going to feel pretty stupid accepting a mission only to find out your mechs need repair. So have to abort. When you do you loose 2 salvage every abort. So you wil feel really really stupid if you drop from say 18 to 16 salvage and that 18 was an Atlas or some nice mech.

4) Again pilots are key make sure you get high enough pilots to do the job on your level. In the beginning you get a pilot from the third mission he has fairly decent stats. But is useless after reputation 10 because his skills do not advance over 8. In Reckoning your going to ned 10 skill pilots just to do enough damage.

5)/ Manage your mech bay from the onset. It will suck if you are doing 100-500k missions only to have to pay for space in mech bay. keep it lot of it open put mechs in cold storage. ( Btw Mech cold storage can only hold 12 mechs )

6) Weapon management is key to living of dying. Make sure you have the right amount of ammo for you AC's and rockets you run out of those in a fight your going to die. That means stocking 4 or 5 tons of ammo so make sure you adjust your armor values.

7) travelling is very expensive- make sure you keep your jumps to between 100-200 k . you can go up to 450k but think about that for a sec 450k 50-70 days travel it is costly.

Hope this helps

HUGE tip addition as well is make sure your mech's are versatile... do not pigeon hole your support mechs into a single role, like brawler SRM for example. It is "ok" to do this to the mech you are piloting (I still don't suggest it), but your lance mates need diverse options (make sure to put weapons in plenty of groups too the AI pilots use all of the weapon groups in priority.)
