Classic Doom modding

I am kind of curious why the ID Tech 2 engine games haven't made it to this site yet. I know MOD DB has Doom Mods. Trust me, I have even made tutorials on ZDoom launcher. I am kind of curious that vortex doensn't have support for it though. Or this site rather. Like, mod sorting can still get complex with that game if you don't knwo what you are doing, albeit its not skyrim or Fallout levels of frustraition but if any of yall played Cluster f*#@, god.

I have recently started playing fallout 4 and made the move from Doom to take a break as I have gotten a little burnt out on the mods there and wanted to use more than a couple of my brain cells. Granted its still a passion of mine. But I wanted to know if there were any other doomers here as well?

Anyone can create a new area on the Nexus for a new game. All one has to do is upload a mod for it! If the mod isn't for an already listed game there's an option to add it. (Takes a bit longer because we vet all newly added games manually.)

Vortex support is a completely different subject. Factors include the easy of managing mods for a given game, number of mods for the game on the Nexus, and overall popularity of the game itself. (I don't know for sure, but I think "Doom" is unlikely to be very high on the devs' list...)

Idk man, some games have their own modding sites. Bethesda games found they shelter here in nexus, doom and stalker belong to mod db. Unreal tournament, deus ex and all those calssic unreal games belong to beyond unreal, while oldunreal belongs to oldunreal.com. IL-2 Sturmovik 1946 belongs to mission 4 today, Steel Fury - Kharkov stay in https://stasf2008.forumotion.com/, and arma in armaholic. Every game have it own modding site. When they don't have, they usually come here to nexus or go to mod db. I dunno which is better.

Haha.. that's funny timing.. I literally just posted a thread here talking about how I'm GZDoom modder or at least I was a couple of years ago. I may have even used your tutorials years ago lol!

Instead of typing everything again I'll just be lazy and copy and paste what I said there lol:

Back in the 90s I used to muck around with Doom 2 and Civilization 2 modding but never finished any of my projects. Well in recent years I've been getting back into it (call it can early midlife crisis lol) and released a GZDoom enhanced version of my old Star Trek Doom level and also a new Quest for Glory IV - 3D Hexen mod too. Much to my surprise both got a lot of media attention with the QFG4-3D one in particular getting coverage on Rock Paper Shotgun and in PC Gamer Magazine which was awesome. The great response inspired me to also get back into my old Civilization 2 editing as well (also 20 years too late lol).

Not really sure it's needed, since there are several DOOM modding forums where the modding community hangs out. Some of the sprite work for popular mods involves porting and importing screenshots, which the nexus isn't too keen with, as it could get in trouble for hosting, being for-profit to keep the servers running. On top of that, chances are modders don't bother uploading here because their mods won't get as much attention as they would on DOOMWORLD, as it's much older and likely has a larger playerbase than even our own Skyrim board, and ModDB is less strict on file content and allows users to expand upon other user's mods, leading to expansions made upon other DOOM modders mods.

Most modders and mappers also tend to use DOOM II due to its extended assets, which explains why the DOOM 1993 here only has 4 files, while DOOM II has 9.

I just spotted DOOM on Steam for a really cheap price, installed the game on my PC in one minute flat and wow! I havent seen these levels in decades but it was all coming back to me - rapid time!

I can remember my brother doing the mods back in the late 90s and telling me about them but I never was able to load his mods as I just didnt have the data or know how to do it, come to think of it, we played DOOM on PS1 then anyway so , no go!
