SkyUI and Nexus oddity

When I look at new mods through Vortex, and particularly if I download any, even if I do not install them, my next attempt to play Skyrim produces error messages from SkyUI about its connection to SKSE. If I run FNIS and reinstall SkyUI these messages no longer appear. So this is an irritation rather than a serious problem, but I would like to know what is causing it. Obviously I have to go back into Vortex to reinstall SkyUI, so Vortex cannot itself be causing the problem. After taking the action described everything else that could be related is working OK.

The only other outstanding issue I have is that the stewards no longer offer Breezehome, Honeyside etc for sale. The 3 Hearthfire houses are offered. This is true even for a new start with many mods disabled (to give me a clear run at Beyond Reach, which I have not tried before, and seems to be working OK so far). Do I need to reinstall Skyrim?

I was having SkyUi issues, errors, and sometimes it just wouldn't work minus the errors from the script extenders. I solved this by installing it manually, so for me at least, it looked like an issue with vortex, where vortex wasn't installing it correctly.

The files picked up manually are exactly the same as installed by Vortex, but I have found that the FOMOD directory for SkyUI has an additional file that has something to do with Bodyslide. Reinstalling SkyUI usually brings up a box asking whether I want the new FNIS file or the old, so clearly there is some connection and perhaps Vortex is not handling that correctly. I now see from a post elsewhere that Immersive Citizens can cause trouble, but I'll be sorry to have to pull that out.
