(UNOFFICIAL) Legacy of the Dragonborn display patch ideas discussion

I'm not affiliated with the Legacy of the Dragonborn Team and I do not have any kind of connection to them.

I made this thread because I am passionate about the Legacy of the Dragonborn mod/project and want to have somewhere to discuss or brainstorm patches I'd love to see implement more display features and collectables for the Museum and to my knowledge thread or space, that doesn't exist yet.

In creating this thread I am hoping to develop either a small community or have a space for others like myself to bring up mods they'd like to see integrated into Legacy's patches as third party content for it.

I aim this thread to be used to gauge how much people want certain mods to be given said patches.

My overall goal is to hopefully catch the attention of someone who might like the sound of making patches for mods mentioned here.

I personally have no experience in creating mods and as such asking for me personally to make X patch won't get anywhere.

I again feel the need to stress that I am not representative of anyone on the Legacy team. This is just made as I love the mod this much.

Starting off vague, mods that add more to Leveled Lists as opposed to one-of-a-kind items are my favourites. The kind that add more variety to weapon/armor material types such as more iron, steel and etc weapons.

One area of Legacy of the Dragonborn I feel the mod is lacking is non-magic ranged weaponry. This is mostly Skyrim's fault for only including one type of non-magic ranged weapon, and that is the bow and its different material types. With only types of crossbows that might not see much usage depending on the players.

To fix that, one display patch mod I'd love to see would be Legendary Skyrim Crossbows.

As the name suggests, this mod is all about Crossbows, adding many different types of Crossbows, unique crossbows such as a one-of-a-kind for the Dark Brotherhood, to faction specific like Companions and Thieves Guild, to various material types such as Iron, Steel and so on for the Leveled Lists.

Another similar mod is One Handed Crossbows however that has never been ported to the SSE version of Skyrim.

While trivial, one slight dissapointment I've had with Legacy is the inability to display Arrows. I'm unsure how the whole display system works, but my suggestion would be making a replica or something similar at a station.

It requires the amount of arrows (or bolts) you see in a quiver (or satchel), plus one extra that will be displayed outside the quiver. and is displayed as a singular entity.

With the crossbows, would you have them spawn in the Armory or have a separate room for them? A lot of the armory is getting quite cramped as-is.

On a similar topic, I found it weird that Immersive Weapons and Armors adds Redguard stuff, but the LotD team never made an armory display for them. Sure it'd be on the smaller side, but the Forsworn one is pretty sparse.

As for arrows, the Saints and Seducers patch displays arrows for the new sets but they're put up automatically when the bow is displayed. For the Armory I was thinking something like the Jaysus Swords case where a single arrow would activate the quiver display. It doesn't need to be 1:1, after all, we can make a taxidermy bear with one pelt and a handful of claws.

Probably something similar to how the Dawnguard and Dwarven Crossbows are displayed above the shield.

Unique variants would of course go to their respective places, if there are some that don't appear to have a themed location to go along with, a misc display of a few select crossbows could work similar to Jaysus swords.

Dawnguard goes above the shield because there's not (normally) a bow that goes there already. IW does add the Silver Hawk Bow, so it could work. Dwarven crossbows actually go behind the armor, making it impossible to see on full display. Most other display have the trident or double axe go in that spot.

On a different subject, I would, if I had the talent, make a patch that rearranges the gallery a bit. The Ring of Khajiiti should go in the Daedric Gallery instead of the Jewelry case, the Madness, Amber, Seducer and Saint armors should be in the Armory, otherwise the Daedric armor should also go in the Daedric gallery, all of the Sheogorath things could be grouped together in that lower hall instead, which would open up a lot of free spaces for other add-ons. Add-ons like the Ada Bal from the VIGILANT mod which, being the only real "daedric artifact" included in that mod, should probably be in there instead of the Vigilant Hall. Also perhaps an expansion of the Natural History wing to include some of the more lore-friendly Milahil creations.

Elysium Estate has displays for all vanilla arrows; one arrow finishes a display of the quiver, as some of the above posters suggested.

Personally I'd like to see displays for mods like Divine Elegance; all those outfits would look splendid in a room full of mannequins. Actually I'm planning to just display them myself in the free towers where you have both male and female mannequins.

Another idea would be the Pit Fighters mod. The mod already has its own integrated display room for trophy weapons that you take from defeating arena champions. These have stands and everything already; it would be simple for someone to just move these displays to the DBM if some space could be found.

Not sure how you'd handle it in Legacy as it might be seen as a grind for the sake of grind but in the mod Sjel Blad castle it had a room where it'd detect what specific creatures you've killed in a playthrough, and would represent it by adding more dragon priest masks as you reach kill milestones. It also allowed you to get summons for the unique named dragons of Skyrim. but that's besides the point.

Had all sorts, such as the 9 playable races, to livestock to many of the different enemies in Skyrim.

In all seriousness I have a great many ideas for Legacy however with the current layout there are some things I would like be moved or potentially added based on the mods already patched into the mod. I know it's a bit cramped however by moving things around more areas can be opened up. For one thing the banded Iron armor found in the base game, the steel crossbow to be placed with the steel set, hide shield with hide set, maybe even removing the weapons from the hall of oddities to the armory by adding in a second level so that the hall of oddities has more room for well oddities. Also can't forget about the hold cloaks from Cloaks of Skyrim, the hold specific weaponry from Guards Armor Replacer, and the imperial weapons from Heavy Armory - New Weapons. There are many more ideas where that came from just let me know if you want to hear any more.

Zenrad, I also had an ideas for a few different mods that aren't currently implemented. I enjoy collecting things and with new creature mods such as Immersive Creatures and Animallica I find myself often just going on a hunt to tame the creatures I find. I would like to have something in which I can donate the creatures I tame to something like a zoo. Going along with that if Solitude got a rework or perhaps building another museum (I have a few stories about how that can be tied into the lore depending now how you start that game). Imagine if there was a huge stable connected to Solitude and it would work with Immersive horses , many other horse mods, and other mods that have horses in them. It would be connected to the Hall of Natural Science and the different varieties of horses can be showing in a herd like display in the background. Keep in mind the models for these don't have to be life sized, due to the amount of space the dioramas currently have we could theoretically, shrink down the models to have the display appear larger than it actually is.

Edit:

Instead why not make the natural science displays like the diorama displays found in Night at the Museum. The creatures that you tame can run around in there shrunken down and generally not being a nuisance. Developing a spell that's more powerful than Harmony tame creatures higher than the level of 25 or perhaps being able to tame them once you paralyze them. The plaques I don't think would ultimately be connected to building anything but rather a description of that specific kind of creature. If there was a something that pertains to the furs it can be done in the safehouse creating a hide/pelt display shelf and having it fill up like the food and drink displays.
