Skyrim VR crashes after wedding

Hello! My Skyrim VR does something weird when I try to marry someone. It will let me go through with the wedding, but when I get to the part where I say that I will marry them, the sound cuts out. The game does give me the wedding band and completes the quest, but the person I married won't talk to me. Also, I am unable to talk to anyone. If I leave the chapel or "wait", the screen turns black and never loads.

The first few times I did it, the clothing kept glitching on my followers who attended the wedding, so I disabled outfit management which stopped the glitching. But, it didn't stop the other issues.

I've tried loading to multiple places, adjusting various settings in my mods, and disabling some mods. I also installed and used LOOT to sort my mods. I've had no issues with anything else in the game.

If it helps, I'm mostly trying to marry Marcurio.

Here is my mod loading order copied from LOOT:

I am not familiar with wedding mods but is or was the person you are trying to marry a follower? Amazing Follower Tweaks has some requirements for activation basically and I do know it can mess with followers and such. AFT has to be on before engaging any followers or it will not work correctly for them. Hope it helps and good luck

I mean did you have them as a follower when you activated AFT. If you tell someone to follow you and then turn on AFT it messes things up. So if you told the person to follow, then turned on AFT, and then try to marry them, it may not work. The mod post section on the description page will most likely cover it better, but for a quick read look over this https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/8479213-aft-and-followers/

That removes that possibility then. If LOOT is not flagging for any patches and you sorted it then I would have to say you will have to load it up in xedit and check for conflicts. That is the only way you can see if another mod is over writing the NPC's dialog. That would stop their responses to you and such.

As a quick check I looked over my LOOT masterlist and I am not seeing an entry for AFT. It very well could be a LO placement issue, like that is sometimes common with the blackface bug. For a quick check you could try disabling AFT and or move it to the top of LO and the bottom and try it each time. Your list is small so might be a quick way to diagnose the issue. Other than that turn off every mod one by one until it works. Once you find the conflict mod look at its placement with other mods for npcs. Ex. if it is before AFT move it after and try it. Otherwise only xedit will show you. You are welcome also. Forgot that the last time :)

Knowing that changes the playing field immensely then. You can download it here on nexus at https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/164?tab=description For terminology understanding xedit, sseedit (of which now I am wondering if you need a different one for VR, IDK), or TesVEdit are all referencing the same tool. You will need to verify that you can use sseedit for a VR game now thinking on it. I am not familiar with Skyrim VR as I only have SSE.

For installation instruction and use see GamerPoets Utube channel here https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLlN8weLk86XiGXJI4DaRa1QIq1zhDpD8V

The first two videos will get you going for installation and how to clean game add-ons which most likely you will have to do.

If VR is the same as SE with the Dawnguard dlc you will have to remove the wild edits from it. GamerPoets has an updated video for this process, I just learned and watched, so this maybe the same video from the last two, IDK https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLlN8weLk86XiGXJI4DaRa1QIq1zhDpD8V

Now that all those necessities have been met, if you have plans to keep adding mods you should get the skse64 script extender, sse fixes, and sse engine fixes to start the fix/needed mod list. GamerPoets has videos on it all and the fixes mods are here on nexus but the skse64 has to be downloaded offsite. Nexus does have a page for skse64 with a link to it for downloading I believe or put skse64 into google. If you do not have them already.

Now, and if all LOOT's flags have been resolved, you are ready to begin learning conflict resolution (CR). You can find all the instruction needed at the Tome of xEdit here https://tes5edit.github.io/docs/index.html If you plan to keep modding I would suggest you read everything there once. Then re-read the first seven sections again before beginning CR as they will be the most you will use just starting.

For further clarification of performing CR you can reference Elwaps guides here https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/25093 Scroll down until you see the section title "THE METHOD" and begin to read. You can also reference the STEP guide here https://wiki.step-project.com/Guide:XEdit#Cleaning_plugins_with_xEdit but, do know the Tome guide is the most updated on the tool currently.

Finally, so you understand this hobby you could possibly be embarking on, and so you know I am not running you through a bunch of needless steps lol, watch the first 3.5 minutes of this video to form the correct perception of the world of modding https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7EKcS7qmtLo

Like I said above, that bit of info really changes the playing field. Quite a few steps had not been performed if you knew nothing of xedit. Happy modding!

I don't have Skyrim VR, but share what I know to you.

I've heard that VR and USSEP are NOT compatible, causing serious problems with vanilla quests including weddings. This is because Skyrim VR is much older than Skyrim SE. As you can see from this Reddit post, USSEP 4.1.2 seems to work well for weddings, but I've heard from an acquaintance that there is still another problem.

How about try this compatibility patch? : Skyrim VR - USSEP 4.2.2 and SSE 1.5.97 Compatibility Patch
