Consistent Full System Crash

Please HELP! I'm pulling my hair out!

Where to begin?

I'm experiencing full system lockup at random times while playing Skyrim. I've found a two reliable ways to trigger the Full System Hang: fiddling with RaceMenu options, or just running around the worldspace (or indoors) and spinning the camera. The crash happens within about 20 minutes of gameplay regardless of if I am actively trying to trigger it or just playing normally. But the game will run forever on the pause menu, no problem (tested it by leaving it alone for 2 hours while I ran some errands).

I first noticed the issue after updating my graphics card driver to be able to play Call of Duty Modern Warfare. I looked up how to disable any graphic overlays my driver software was applying, I disabled my weaker graphics card via the BIOS, and tried just about every guide i could find related to speed, stability and optimization, ini tweaks, etc for skyrim and am still experiencing the same issue.

Steam and Skyrim are installed in a folder I created [ C:\Program Files (Games)\ ] so there are no problems with permissions.

I've installed the latest versions of SKSE and ENB manually, and use MO2 for my mods.

I am using Mod Organizer 2, BethINI, ENB Reshade Manager, LOOT, TES5Edit (Quick AutoClean) and Ordenador.

All Plugins sorted with LOOT, dirty ones cleaned with TES5Edit QAC

I am 99.9% sure that the problem lies with my ENB settings.

The reason I believe this is because I ran Skyrim through the Skyrim Launcher (without Mod Organizer - so without any modifications besides TES5Edit Cleaning and ENB - and it hangs the system. But with [usePatchSpeedhackWithoutGraphics=true ] I am stable for at least an hour that I tested for.

I have tried enabling Papyrus Logging, but with a Full System Hang the log just kind of ends without any indication of what may be causing problems.

I figure if we can get Vanilla Skyrim working with ENB, I can worry about my modded profile in MO2 later

So here's my PC's specs:

Windows 7 x64

AMD A8 7650K APU (4 Cores, 4 Threads)

[The APU also contains 6 graphics cores for AMD Radeon R7 Graphics (currently disabled via the BIOS)]

16 GB DDR3 System Memory

ASUS Dual branded AMD Radeon RX 480 with 8 GB GDDR5 Graphics Memory

240 GB TEAM L3 SATA III 6GB/sec SSD boot drive with Steam and Skyrim installed on it

Various other storage drives that make no difference here

Running OG Skyrim (32-bit) with all DLCs

Here are my INI files for Vanilla Skyrim (running without MO2)

Edit: Cleaned up formatting and used spoiler code to make things neater

If it worked fine before updating the graphics driver, try rolling it back. Sometimes driver updates do more harm than good. I know they say to always update your drivers and such. But keep in mind you are on Win 7 and it is no longer supported. Many companies may start dropping support or not optimizing for Win 7 any longer.

EDIT: Still something to keep in mind... But amidst all the non-spoiler quotes / code boxes I finally saw where you stated that it was stable without the ENB settings. It would be the ENB then. They are notorious for tanking one's ability to play the game. Best used for screenshots rather than normal play for most users. I couldn't even use them for screenshots as my performance tanked so much I could barely do anything in the game.

I've updated my graphics card to the latest drivers a second time a few days after updating for Modern Warfare, unfortunately I can't seem to find older versions of the driver for my card because AMD's website just has you download their one size fits all downloader-installer.

I'm hesitant to use the "rollback" feature in Device Manager because the driver software is also a different version, so I'd rather uninstall the software & drivers in place now and clean install the older ones, if they can be found?

Sorry about all the non-spoiler quotes, I couldn't figure out how to use the spoiler quotes, I don't see an option for it on the formatting menu. I've edited my previous post so that all of my comments are on top with all of the quotes at the end without any other text between them, hopefully that makes it easier to read.

Excuse me? I did not spend over $100 on a 8GB Graphics card to NOT use ENB for normal gameplay. I know it works on this card, I've had it working in the past. I'm looking for help to get it working as at this point Skyrim is UNPLAYABLE without ENB modifications as far as I'm concerned.

Thank you, I appreciate your efforts.

I have looked through the STEP Wiki page for enblocal.ini pretty thoroughly. My biggest take-away from that is to set [ DisableDriverMemoryManager=true ] because this option was made specifically for AMD graphics cards.

I have tried a few things since reading the STEP Wiki page before posting here

[ ExpandSystemMemoryX64=true ] but that just CTD's as soon as the main menu loads

[ EnableUnsafeMemoryHacks=true ] no change

[ VideoMemorySizeMB=8064 ] no change (I read that 4GB was the max here, so I changed it - 8064 was the result of some math in the STEP Wiki's recommendations. The DX9 VRamSize tool reports I have 12000 MB available (I'm thinking some of this is shared from the RAM?)

[ DataSyncMode=2 ], [ PriorityMode=3 ] no change, I'm not sure what these do but STEP Wiki said to set them to 0's

Current settings for "Memory and Threads" enblocal.ini

[MEMORY]
ExpandSystemMemoryX64=false
ReduceSystemMemoryUsage=true
DisableDriverMemoryManager=true
DisablePreloadToVRAM=false
EnableUnsafeMemoryHacks=false
ReservedMemorySizeMb=384
VideoMemorySizeMb=4064
EnableCompression=false
AutodetectVideoMemorySize=false

[THREADS]
DataSyncMode=0
PriorityMode=0

Update: I was wrong about the video card driver's installer - I was able to find the previous version of the driver and downgraded to it as a clean install, then went in and disabled as many of the tweaks and graphical overlays I could find in the Radeon Adrenaline software.

My currently installed version of the driver is the Dec 12, 2019 version. The newest version (which I just downgraded from) was released April 2, 2020.

I also tried some settings from ENBoost 6.0

Unfortunately none of this fixed the issue and I crashed after about 10 minutes of testing.

I pissed off a few guards, got killed, did it again and ran up on whiterun for the scripted Giant attack. Looted the Giant, closed the loot menu - system hung
