Problem with Helghast and ISA conflict

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, I'm at my wits end trying to resolve an issue. I've been trying to install the Helghast and ISA conflict mod. For those who don't know, the mod replaces the uniforms of NCR troops and gives them new rifles, while converting Caesar's legion into the Helghast. The mod depends on another mod called Killzone Fallout New Vegas Mod for the Helghast meshes and textures. After installing all the prerequisite mods, I installed Helghast and ISA conflict, only to find that the missing meshes square-and-exclamation appears for Legion npcs; NCR npcs are fine. I've tried placing the Helghast mesh, tecture, and esp files both in their respective folders, and also just in the data folder. I've installed the esp directly into Vortex, which at least made it so that New Vegas recognizes the Helghast meshes for my character, albeit with missing textures; the Legion meshes still don't work. I've even tried directly installing every single mesh and texture file into Vortex (I'm sure this is a dumb thing to try) just to get the damn meshes and textures to be recognized by the esp. Nothing works! Also note: the Helghast and ISA conflict mod requires the Helghast armor mod to be loaded first; I've created the necessary rules in the plugins for this, and the Legion still will not convert to Helghast, nor will the textures appear for the armors on my own character. What the heck am I missing here? Appreciate the help!

Not familiar with the mod, but sounds like the "Legion" mod (Helghast?) might have hard-coded paths to the texture files. If so, see the wiki article "How to fix hard-coded texture paths in NIF files" for the procedure to locate the texture file entry within NifSkope. (The path needs to be "relative" instead of "absolute"/"hard-coded" in order to be found on various installation locations, which is what that article covers.) But in short form the procedure is:
* Open the NIF file in NifSkope.
* Click on the part you want the texture for; it will highlight it in the Block list.
* Expand it and highlight BSShaderPPLightingProperty. Expand that.
* Highlight BSShaderTextureSet.
* In Block Details you will see textures (DDS files). Expand it.
* There you will see the paths to the textures used by that mesh.

The bad news is that you will have to fix each NIF individually if this is the case.

Thanks for the info, Dubious! I'm gonna play around with NifSkope and see if I can resolve the issue.

Congrats! Thanks for reporting back on your solution for the benefit of the next person.

You might want to leave a comment on the mod page to let others know what it took to resolve.
