The machine was a 3Dfabricator able to create working prototypes of machines of a surprising range of types. GGO was having it produce basic remoterobots to assist in its repair work and upgrading efforts. The remoterobots came out, one after another, and very soon were on active duty. They were all working machines with out heavy armour or any weapons which proved to be good when they started going rogue.

LyonsPriders, and Timelord people, assisted autorobotic network-systems to knock out the remoterobots with EMPguns. The alien rogue virus was quickly found and dealt with with it being destroyed except for a sample that was carefully analysed in a special containment device. It turned out to be a Greyyari type computer virus designed by them to attack human type tech.

The trouble prompted another, more focused, search in the form of a cyber security sweep. Clean, virgin, units were activated and used to check for self deceiving contamination of network-systems. The virus was found in two other locations but also two other viruses whose purpose seemed obscure at best. The two types of viruses were cleaned off except for samples that were also studied carefully.

What had the Greyyari Greyhighs been after?

A combined effort found the answers with, as a result, a meeting being held in the OldPentagonis Chamber.

GGO: "Virus #2 seems to be designed to track down organic computer network-systems and Virus #3 to infiltrate GSSVR (general sensory stimulation virtual reality) type cyberscape. I don't know where such would be found here or do I?"

Romana smiled. "You are an OCNS with one primary brain system able to go mobile with help, three clone humanoids able to move and nine secondary brain systems able to go mobile. You are linked to three GSSVR cyberscape network-systems and many lesser BSSVR (basic sensory stimulation virtual reality) cyberspace ones."

GGO: "Well, so much for my secrets."

Romana kept on smiling. "You freely gave us the pertinent data, grumpy sweetie, but not where the discovered network-systems are linked to in a more isolated fashion as they are to some mystery locations."

GGO: "One is the OldPentavault of safevaults and subsafevaults; I do not know what is in them. Another is linked to the OPVC (OldPentagon Visitors' Centre) but I do know quite a bit about that. One leads to three mysterious blank spaces in my 3Dmaps. As for another, it goes straight to the GrandPlug that lies beneath the OldPentagon and supposedly above the NewPentagon."

Romana nodded, for the sake of 3Dcameras recording her. "We already knew about the Vaulter Complex, and the OPVC, in a general fashion but not about the 'blank spaces' or the link to the GrandPlug. Perhaps we should start with the mysterious grandchildren of yours."

Plates hummed open, sliding to downwards, to reveal animals and various sized humanoids slumbering in sleepcapsules. They were all were in odd light power armour and were moderately cyborged. About a quarter were a metre tall and the others varied from about half to a quarter metre in height. They differed from the children, of OldPentagonus, who were really computers, robots and androids though 'smart' ones.

It soon turned out that all the grandchildren, including the animals, were cyberlinked into a SSSVR (super sensory stimulation virtual reality) realm of realms known as WashingtonDF (District of Funtime). It also turned out that they were somehow trapped there and soon a combined rescue effort was under way.

Five years, back to the future, DocWho times three were busy making contact with the SteelOrderhood in the CitadelDC. The SteelElders were informed that Sarah, and her people, were safe back five years in the past but no more information could be given about that until the right moment. The Timelords offered assistance with limited tech improvements in exchange for information of a wide variety of kinds. The SteelElders, including PrimeElder Owen Lyons, were warily accepting of the idea but that was only to be expected considering the nature of that world.

The DocTARDIS public toilet cubicle became a bigger public amenities unit with toilets, showers and other secured privacy cubicles. Soon visiting Domelanders were using the facilities that were thankfully easy to use and self cleaning along with being highly resistant to damage. Some radghoul types enjoyed the eating of bars of soap but besides that matters went smoothly enough, especially inside those radghouls.

TimeRani realised that she would have to make a disagreeable alliance with DocWho made more annoying because of the splintering effect. She lay in her triple enlarged bed thinking about those matters and wondering if she should have placed so many pet doors in her TARDIS; a big old dog snored into her left ear while a large ginger tabby cat was curled up on her belly. Indeed a large mound of creatures now gave her the privilege of sharing her bed with them.

The OPVC was part hotel, part museum, part art gallery, part shops, part cafes, part service support areas, part staff quarters and so forth. It was for VIPs including honorary ones. Yet it was soon clear that what was on display was government sanctioned military propaganda. The whole lot was soon reactivated including remoterobots and non lethal turrets. The newcomers bought books, magazines, comics and SSDDs (solidstate datadisks) along with other items from a souvenir shop; it was all propaganda, of course, even the fictional material amongst it all.

Guide remoterobots were shaped like short versions of power armour soldiers with mock guns. They stomped around while spouting yet more propaganda disguised thinly as educational stuff. The newcomers carefully behaved like registered VIP visitors which the OPVC computers recognised them as anyway. Each had a general security grade visitor's tag linked to their upper left side chest.

At a display of World War Three mobile antimissile missile launchers, none of which had been needed against nuclear missiles, Sarah studied the three big machines that were armoured and on tracks. "We could use those or copies of them."

GGO: "Truth is they were manufactured by a corrupt corporation that figured if they failed to work it would not matter as the world would be destroyed anyway. After UFOs destroyed most of the nukes, the corporate VIPs were tried, found guilty, and summarily executed. The USNA Federal Government took them over as they did other corrupt, caught out, corporations such as those that made the Special55 Multiple Victory Rifle; that weapon did far more harm to NorthAm military personnel than it did to the enemy."

Sarah frowned. "It makes no mention of the corruption with the display. I take it that they were trying to protect government reputations. How did you learn about the corruption?"

The others there were five LyonsPriders and three of DocWho's people along with three androids being some of GGO's children. Alex was there and she spoke.

"Governments mostly act like that, at least in this tip of this galactic spiral that has a generally bad reputation. It seems to be infested with dark, powerful, species bent on conquest, or just raiding, to gain resources or even just to destroy. The daleks, of the Dalekperium appear to just want to exterminate everybody else including what they consider to be competing dalek factions. My people, of the Third Terran Empire, fought them hard and won but at heavy cost."

Sarah nodded. "We LyonsPriders would like to have a closer look at that advanced power armour of yours."

Alex nodded. "Fine but know that I am a bioengineered entity created to use such melded power armour at full capacity. There is something odd about that display over there with the WW3 attack drones for the supposed dates are also messed up."

So it was that the first clue was found that would soon be leading them to some secrets hidden in the OPVC. They paused at an autorobotic cafe served by basic duplicant androids dressed as formal waiters. They consumed 3Dprinted foods and stuff taken from status containers that was centuries old but fresh.

They were finishing off, the meal, when alarms began to shrill.

Changing the numbering system so it is more logical on a cosmic level.

The Silence tried hard to do what they normally did which was to be forgotten when not looked directly at but all those there, for reasons unknown even to themselves, could see the creatures anyway but also remember them clearly when not doing so. The only common factor was all, who did not forget, seemed to have been caught in flashes of celestial white light. They were forced back, and cornered, but not by damaging force. When they were in that place, that the greyliens controlled taskforce then it was a matter of waiting to see if Romana's theory proved to be true.

The creatures hung, upside down, from the ceiling being disconcerted that all could remember them when not looking at them. They seemed also to be confused that there had been no attempt to do them any real harm. It appeared they automatically expected to be attacked by others if those others were given a chance to do so. Was it a result of the Timewar, that had largely been cleansed away by mysterious celestial entities being very much more so than even such as the Silence? All of this was psykersensed by Sarah and other psykers there along with Romana with her Timelord type psychic abilities.

Then the flash of white light came, pure and positive, spreading this time through out the OldPentagon to take in all there but being focused mainly in the OPVC. When it was gone, this time, there were many more people there being more than just humans and it seemed most were Predoomsday folk.

Romana had been correct in surmising that it would happen but there were still many questions to answer such as why had the center, of celestial light incidents, appeared to have happened there; it was not assumed that it would have been the only one, not even in WashingtonDC.

The small group moved carefully through a previously hidden section of the OPVC. There they found valuable artworks of sculptures, paintings, collages and other kinds protected by armaglass display cases. As they paced, as quietly as possible, they came to the first chamber not of propaganda but of secret truths. There they searched displays, and other data, speaking of NorthAm war atrocities, corruption and dubious research projects. It was a very large chamber and yet crowded with information in different forms.

Sarah frowned at an armoured display of bacteria, with the contents being fake, being all of them lethal to some extent but one stuck out from the others being FEV (forced evolutionary virus) that had turned out to not to be a standard virus. The vial was supposedly TypeB11, if it had actually held anything in it. Another 'virus' was the Tvirus as created by the infamous Umbrella Corporation whose activities led to the destruction of the domed RacoonCity on Terraformed Mars and the Zombie War there which humanity won at high cost, important assistance and with some odd results.

"Human arrogance, fear and stupidity must have been behind such developments." She shook her head. "The SteelOrderhood has picked up indications that there were human projects involving alien partnerships. The greyliens were linked to the Tvirus and the Zvirus, both involving greylien genetic material."

Romana nodded. "Different 'Greyhigh Expressions', a unique kind of greylien faction, took part in separate projects with humanity but also other 'alien' species to them. The FEV Program saw the participation of rogue zetan factions, who have broken away from Greyyari mastery, but also the Bloodbari who are the fanatical enemies of the Greyyari being linked to the creation of the original greyliens."

That place had been found through finding clues scattered through out the OPVC but more were being picked up even at that moment, most being more subtle than the first one discovered at the chamber of the antimissile missile launchers.

Mars had declared itself independent after the ending of the Zombie War. Officially Terra had not sent any help, being faced with its own almost overwhelming problems, while the Lunar Colonies were hunkered down thanks to increased alien activity including the greyliens; unofficially there were strong hints that secret expeditions had been sent, not all of which had returned. Mars had been aided in ending the zombie, and living abomination, threat before it managed to conquer more than a relative small part of the Martian Surface. The mystery was who-what had aided them.

When Sarah saw the 'Steel Virus' she stopped in surprise. There was not much information there but it was enough to shock her. It was linked to the core secret of the two Steelhoods, a very special ability used only when it was most needed for it bore with it a high cost and possible terrible death; only members of the SteelFamilies had the power. Her father, PrimeElder Owen Lyons would want to know about it at once but not only him.

The eccentric young man, one Banjosam, stood in stylised power armour with the visors open. He had not been part of the registered group but had come seemingly out of nowhere. "I suggest, strongly, that you refrain from informing your father of your find until you learn more about the truth, much of it which will be painful for you to learn. That is the Curse of Steel and its link with other mysteries including the 'flashes of pure light energies' that began to take place, on this world, on Doomsday."

Alex, the cyborg in her own special power armour, spoke. "If it is the same Curse of Steel that is a part, of our alternate past, then truly it is worth learning more about it."

The feelings, of the others there, were obviously mixed about what was going on; this was especially true for one of the LyonsPriders named Bill Oddie.

PrimeElder Owen Lyons had not had the Securitor agent, Bill Oddie, keep a close eye on his daughter Sarah but had to go along with it when the other HighElders had gone along with the idea. Nor did it surprise Owen that the hardliners, of the SteelElders' Steel Discipline Faction, had pushed it in the first place. They were of the SteelFamilies who believed that Owen was one of the moderate reformers who were too willing to go along with the radical reformer factions; they were wrong about the PrimeElder as they were about many matters. The radical reformers tended to think he was too orthodox.

The surprise was that Bill, after he returned back to five years in the future with other LyonsPriders, reported directly to Owen and did not inform those, of his own faction, about his doing so. He sat on the other side of a meeting table, from the PrimeElder who wore his formal robetunic. There he looked discomforted. "I wish to transfer my loyalties to your faction of moderate reform but can not, at this time say why; it has something to do with the flash of purity light that changed us all."

Owen nodded. "Is this about the Steel Virus and that flash effect that came forward, in time, to effect us here?"

Bill nodded right back. "Also about how the hardliners have noted how those with the Steel Affliction have greatly improved, a few no longer having it and a few gaining the abilities or becoming stronger with them. Sandrik went into a secret meeting with Valance and Brownstone soon after the hardliner factions began to discuss the matter."

Owen became more solemn. "All, but the most isolated, factions are busy speaking of such matters. It is an open secret that status capsules are being deactivated with people being brought out of status thanks to their improvements. That is not just the Steel Afflicted but others suffering from different kinds of troubles. The elderly, such as myself, have gained rejuvenation effects which I am grateful about for at least a half a dozen reasons."

Bill frowned softly. "Whispers are going through the factions, and ranks, that the real reason the SteelOrderhood sent such a large expedition here was about the Virus of Steel but some are saying it was also because of the purity light flashes. A fair sized minority are saying that we were drawn here just as the Greyyari and the Silence were."

Owen responded. "From now on you serve me and I will see to it that you become a firm member of the Logical Reformist Faction. You will also gain strong protection from the hardliners."

Bill shook his head. "Something happened in the chamber, five years ago, where Sarah found a fake sample of the Steel Virus but for reasons unknown to me, it is a blur."

Owen smiled. "That is not important. Just forget it and get some rest-recreation. My people will be in contact with you soon."

Bill smiled back and then departed quickly. Owen sat behind his large desk looking quietly thoughtful.

Carefully using the DocDemiTARDIS, as a kind of time elevator, a large group of people were sent five years into the future of which most were of the 'Arisen' as caused by the purity light flash. They were needed by the SteelOrderhood and in turn would be better off amongst the newcomers from California because amongst them were the small minority of the greatly confused. Most of the Arisen remained five years in the past as they came to terms with the Arising, being generally the lesser fuzzy of mind and being able to better assist others and each other.

Bill Oddie traveled back to the future, driven by the more subtle of the changes that he had gone through, and determined to meet directly with PrimeElder Owen Lyons. Before he went, he spoke briefly with Sarah and with Banjosam who changed his mind about the reportage of the false virus to Owen. When the DemiTARDIS went back, for the second time, to five years in the OldPentagon it brought with it people to assist including some surprises.

Another hidden chamber, linked directly to the one with the fake viruses, had in it details of cruel mutagenic experiments carried out on POWs (Prisoners of War or can be singular as Prisoner of War). Thus had risen the mutamutants of varied kinds including the supermutants but far from just them. The arising, of the SteelBrotherhood, had been linked to experiments being done on POWs to turn them into supermutants and zymutants of differing kinds.

The same soldiers, and other government people, freed POWs and local refugees, had not realised then that the Svirus had been released amongst them. The group only began to manifest symptoms after traveling through a deep, secret, tunnel network to reach the far more secure LostHills Bunkerplex-Network in California; there they met other survivors, unintentionally infecting them. Thankfully it did not have any strong effect on many of the people there, a minority of whom were not human and who were all amongst the 'untouched'.

Romana stood there, having piloted the DemiTARDIS to, and back from, the future CitadelDC. She was studying the display with some intensity. "The Borgperium was involved in this tech, somehow, for they assimilate victims partly through the use of a Steel Virus of this kind. The Borg are amazingly ancient in their endless search for certain types of humanoids to absorb into their collective madness along with their drive to endlessly upgrade their science-tech that sometimes back fires on them; that is such as when they tried to absorb core Timelord tech and use it with out special Timelord abilities. They lost at least one massive Borgcube Armada of over 10,000 of those strange ships."

Sarah frowned. "What would they be seeking in the way of humanoids?"

Romana sighed. "Humans of a more pure strain. Timelord investigations, and data swapping with other species, has come to the conclusion that the first Borg were all humans assimilated by human invented technologies but somehow it took place a vast time ago, long before any humans could supposedly exist. Yet a few, captured, traces of Borgperium data speak of a 'Doomsday' followed by a great leap backwards through time. What if they took the Svirus with them or were already infected by it before seeking to deal with it in their own way. Still, it is still only speculation with out more proof being found."

What was becoming clearer was that Doomsday, of that world, was linked with so many other decisive events across the universe, timespace wise, and perhaps beyond that.

Romana then upped the ante. "The ending-cleansing, of the Timewar, appears to be linked with Doomsday."
