Before anyone asks, yes, I did release a mod under the same name in 2018, this one supercedes it, and it is why the version number is starting on 2.
The new version actually has very little in common with the old one, except that its purpose is to replace the awful vanilla Clairvoyance spell. The old mod was the result of an inexperienced mod author trying to do too much with Papyrus scripting and barely managing to get it to mostly hold together after many hours of trial and error. It was unreliable and would bog down the Papyrus engine, and I don't think it ended up being very nice to use. With some Skyrim modding under my belt now, I reimagined the mechanics of the Clairvoyance spell (Guiding Wisp now) into something that I think is both convenient and fun to use, and it's engineered much better on the inside. I hope you all enjoy it.

Can I install this in the middle of my game when my character already has the vanilla spell?

Yeah, it should just replace it.

It works great, thanks! (Oddly enough, your old guiding light mod has been working fine for me these past years. ^_^)
I did notice one bit of potential improvement: When on horseback, outdoors, the horse outpaces the wisp whenever the wisp does its turn around and look back pause, every few seconds. It also happens on foot if I'm using a running speed mod. Would it be possible to have the wisp not pause if the player is within close distance of that timed mechanic?

Can I assume that this doesn't suffer from the vanilla bug where the trail left by clarivoyance becomes permanent when you save while its there? Also, have you thought about attaching this to a ring? There is a mod that adds a ring that autocasts Clairvoyance every few seconds but it's very quirky and probably won't work with this mod. If you don't want to add a ring like that here, would be alright if I tried my hand at it?

Sounds very appealing. I have two questions; firstly, is this an .esl, and secondly, will this work to show the exact route across the invisible bridge in Grey Cowl of Nocturnal?

This mod is amazing! If u don't mind, I think making it a standalone conjuration spell would be better.
