Sovngarde portal aura bug.

This bug happened to me a year ago and couldn't figure out how to fix it. I quit playing Skyrim and started to play again with the release of Dawngard. Every time I'm teleported out of Sovngarde after the defeat of Alduin, I get this aura effect and it will not go away. I've come to call it the Sovngarde portal aura bug.

I was hoping that it was, but unfortunately it didn't fix the issue, made it worse by adding the glow effect and apparently removing the spell didn't remove the glow or the Sovngarde aura. I removed all magic effects to see if one was present, but nothing was there to identify the effect. For kicks I decided to add and remove all of the listed spells on the front page a few hours after I posted, yet still no luck.

@CrazyAce: does it list the active effect in your magic menu perhaps?

... I removed all magic effects to see if one was present, but nothing was there to identify the effect...

Way a head of that thought.

:edit:

I did however find this when I did a search in the CK. However in console I must be doing something wrong when I type player.removespell 000E2D45, it spit back an unrecognized command.

Hi, Great thread!

I think I'm also having the same problem as CrazyAce.

I looked around the web and found that I was having a somewhat similar smoke problem as in this video:

Here's a screen shot of the color of the smoke from my character:

http://imageshack.us/a/img827/3655/galagastsmokebugcolor.jpg

The code for the 'Storm Atronach' as suggested in the video link didn't work for my case.

*Note that I'm using vanilla Skyrim.

I have the save file before the smoke actually appears. Skyrim Save File

  1. Load the save file.
  2. Use the "Aura Whisper" shout.

= The smoke starts appearing.. I also get a "was equipped." message at the top left.

I tried other variations where the smoke did not trigger:

  • Used a different shout.
  • Went 20~30 meters down the mountain side, then used "Aura Whisper". It seems the smoke only triggers if I am at a higher altitude. (If you go back again to where the file started, using the shout would still trigger the smoke.)

Any help would be very much appreciated. :)

** UPDATE **

Ok, oddly enough after trying out the code 2F3B7 (STORM ATRONACH PURPLE MIST/SMOKE EFFECT WITH ELECTRICAL DISCHARGE").. adding and removing it seems to have fixed the problem. But I will still be on the lookout if it would appear again.

** UPDTAE 2 **

Seems to be working so far.. but I now see 2 Purple Dots at my feet. (Still better than having the smoke I suppose)

I think that's why it didn't work for me, I did each code one by one from the top of the list down, instead of one at a time and load a save when it didn't work. Ok so now we both get the eye effects. Here is what's listed in my magic effects:
