[1] Trenchzone Troubles [13.1][15]

Banjosam stood facing Saraa and a small number of other Maishanforcers. He had put down his odd, boxy, backpack on the floor of the MFB airlock like entrance chamber. With a soft sparkling shimmer three 3m3 cubes materialised being one golden, two silvery and three coppery ones.

He spoke with a charming, but not overly so, voice moderated with an undertone of wary hardness. “I am Banjosam, of the Banjoband, who have been sent here to answer a series of mysteries and to solve potential problems before they become even harder to fix than they are now. You have discovered that you have been lied to, manipulated, but thanks to the influence of the ‘flashes’ you have become freed. Even the supercybclones, that had been secretly amongst you, are now free. How I know this is not a matter than I can discuss except to say that we Banjobanders have not been spying on you.”

Saraa psysensed that she could trust this one but not why. “What are the ‘flashes’ of transforming energies, where do they originate from?”

Banjosam shook his head. “We do not have a complete answer but we do know that it is celestial in nature as in a Celestrial Entity of great power, skill and experience. Yet it is also childlike, perhaps a child, though not as any mortal would be one or even any immortal or eternal. As immortal I mean true immortal and as eternal I mean true eternal.”

Saraa snorted. “Is there such a thing as a true mortal?”

Banjosam semismiled “Yes but that is not a subject that I really want to get into. False mortals are most likely to be trouble intruders into mortal realms or creations of such interference. Still, not all are negative but are neutral, or even positive, in nature. The TrechWar is far from over. New threats are on the way and not just that you have likely detected coming from below. They are after something buried, here in what has become the Trenchzone, that was once made up of beautiful gardens, large memorials and other majestic monuments; that artefact is attracting unwanted attention. Information noted that it maybe quite close to the tallest local monument still surviving fully intact and actively self repairing.”

Saraa sounded bemused. “The President Washington Monument, the PWM, still exists as a truly massive tower shaped like the much smaller one that existed in WashingtonDC before that city was nuked at the end of WW3, during Warday.”

Banjosam nodded. “OldWashington was cleansed off its dangerously high radiation, during the ASMM (Age of Scientific Miracles and Madness) but failed to become a bustling metropolis as it once had been. The original Washington Monument was fully restored with a few improvements making it stronger, more enduring, with self repairing smartmaterials. So were other monuments including new ones about WW3.”

Saraa snorted. “Wasn’t there something toxic about that radiation cleansing process, at least in some parts of OldWashingtonDC?”

Banjosam nodded. “Yes! There were also been suppressed accounts, and dark whispers, of disturbing phenomena taking place in the metropolis, especially in some places, of a supposed spiritual nature. Time to use those gifts so I can soon send those highly valuable, and restricted, transcubes back home.”

So it began!

*****

There was the Trenchzone but was it so straight forward, in nature, as it had firstly seemed to be to those approaching it? This was an especially pertinent question after the flashes started sweeping changes happening there along with in other areas. Was there only one Trenchzone?

[1] Trenchzone Troubles [13.2][16]

The golden transcube vanished away with a sparkling shimmer and left behind it a 3m3 dull golden cube shaped device of supersolidstate nature. It was of ‘megatech’, created during the ASMM, by genetically engineered supergeniuses and true AIsupercomputers along with by other, secretive, means.

A large amount, of high voltage electricity, was fed into it and then out of it radiated 1.5 multiplied the same but of twice higher voltage. It had to be used in an empty, well shielded, chamber with only a few, select, items to be identified. in it such as input cables being linked to it.

It took one megawatt a day and gave out one, and a half, megawatts during the same time period. The reasons for doing so were that it radiated dangerous, long term effecting, forms of exotic radiation that could attract just as exotic, transdimensional, trouble.

It was called an HVEAEM (High Voltage Electricity Advantatage Exchange Mechanism) which was an acronym that did nothing to explain its true nature. Yet it also had useful, secondary, effects that had to be further discovered; it was hinted that other devices were involved in such.

One of the silvery transcubes dematerialised, with a sparkling shimmer, leaving behind another dull silvery metallic cube; it soon turned out that it needed to be placed in a special, sealed off, chamber with the HVEAEM often pronounced as a word being Hiveaem. The new cube helped to stabilise, screen, and secure the Hiveaem processes.

The next surprise was another dull silvery metallic cube that drew in the exotic radiation, from the Hiveaem, making the chamber safer while gaining more electricity that it stored.

Three dull, metallic, copperish cubes were placed at the edges of the chamber, close to special airlock doors, where they would gather, and accumulate, exotic materials of three different kinds being one for each cube.

Who was it actually for?

Saraa sighed. “This is for the celestial one, isn’t it?”

Banjosam did not bother to deny her words. “Yes, she will sleep in the chamber, but while she does she will give forth gifts to the Maishanforce.”

Saraa smiled. “Considering what she has done for us, so far, she does not have to do so. We will help her willingly with out such incentives.”

Banjosam laughed softly before speaking. “She truly was correct about you, Saraa Maishan. The gifts will help you help yourselves but in the process will help her and her followers, serviles plus minions.”

Saraa ordered the task to begin at once, of setting up the cube devices, and somehow was not surprised that a properly designed chamber was already there in the base being in fact one of three that were ready to be used.

With surprising suddenness, after everything was put into place, all six cube mechanisms became activated. The MFB had only been using one, of three, fusion reactor generators being of relatively small-small size, but now one was busy feeding one megawatt of high voltage electricity into the chamber every day.

The unidentified ‘she’ was in that chamber sleeping, in her own fashion, while feeding on radiated electricity.

Celestibaby, of the Celestitheon (Celestigod Pantheon), took in electricity and gave out exotic resources, according to the mortals of Seekaclones, and mutageltants, linked with her. Except that she would call those three, wonderfully useful, resources poop, piddle and snot.

[1] Trenchzone Troubles [14.1][17]

Forcetroopers fell back, battlerifles and other weapons blazing, in excellent fighting retreat formation along a ditch that had formerly been narrower. Their new allies, of HulkStrongers, were there as a small group of hulktants with slippipeguns that they kept firing with.

Rain was falling steadily but not flooding the ditch, as it would have done before, but instead was pouring down drainage holes.

The creatures kept on coming, not zeroombies but even more dangerous in some ways, being mutighoulers, being vaguely like humans with glistening leathery skin, the mutiradtants came charging with mindless hunger. They hated, were damaged by, bright sharp sunlight but that was hardly of concern at that time.

Bullets were exploding hulls in them, flamers were burning them,

It was the endless hunger that drove them more than their constant pain did of mind-body-spirit. The former humans had most likely been hibernating, in their own unnatural fashion, to conserve themselves. Now their sharper teeth, harder to damage bodies, made them dangerous along with their enhanced strength and endurance.

They kept coming until their piling up bodies, the pointlessness of squashing together in even that wide ditch, at last triggered in them a sense of survival. They began to retreat, dragging with them dead-dying others of their kind that they would probably devour; one could never quite tell with their kind.

Thunder exploded, lightening flashed, a lightening bolt struck a nearby lightening rod and then the mutighoulers were vanishing away, underground, with even greater speed. They were clearly frightened of the big flashes, and bangs, in the sky.

A number of mutighoulers were gathered up, and taken, for scientific study as the patrol headed away towards the nearest shared, heavily fortified, outpost.

After a short while mutighoulers started to rush out, grabbing up the last of their dead kind, and rush back with them; not even terrible sky flashes, and bangs, could stop the demands of their terrible hunger.

A PaleOneMan stood there suddenly, almost as if he had always been there. Even as a Demicestrial, he had that effect as he passed from the true celestial realms into any of the true mortal ones. His ‘effect’ was weaker than those of higher level Celestrials let alone the CelestiOnes of the Greater Celestial Balancing. His offwhite paleness was his gear and his body that were, somehow, almost totally blended as one with some sense of separation being noticeable.

Then, having both passively and actively taken in much valuable information in the way of his kind, he vanished away almost as if he had never been there.

The rainstorm was strong for such weather phenomena but there had been stronger ones that had struck NewWashington, always coming in from the Atlantic Ocean to do so. Yet it was soon thundering down like a cold version of tropical monsoonal rains as they used to be. Modern monsoonal rains were often far worse, in their impact, than Predoomsday ones had been. While flooding often took place elsewhere, in NewWashington, the Trenchzone did not do so thanks to the changes that had taken place with the trenches. Where was all the water going down to?

'Before Warday, between Warday and Doomsday, after Doomsday, there have always been a large number of people struggling to survive; too often they have been the same people.'

[1] Trenchzone Troubles [15.1][18]

Banjosal had showed herself to HulkMajor Kickcut and led him, and his force, to the well hidden entrance to a large, secure, good as new, tunnel. It led them to a big chamber complete with more E&S. They rested there until moving through another tunnel that ended at the Hulkbase itself.

Banjosal materialised six cubes identical in type to those that Banjosam had passed over to the MFB. Very soon another special chamber was both active, with the six exotic cube mechanisms, and another ‘she’ was sleeping in it or was it a different entity? One of three fusion reactor generators was busy feeding electricity into that chamber.

HulkMarshal Smashbang was positive about what was happening for, like Saraa, he saw that the ‘celestial one’ had done much for many mortals in that part of that Trenchzone and even beyond. His people had gained much from the ‘flashes’.

As with the MFB, a large number of, mostly small, important modifications had taken place in the Hulkbase; these were adapted to use by a wide range of mutageltant types. The layout, of the MFB, was improved in being safer, more efficient, to utilise by those mutageltants especially the stronger, dumber, ones.

There were more utilities, power ramps, elevators, computer terminals, turrets, security cameras, remoterobots, robots, spare E&S along with much else of the of the same. SSSVR (Super Sensory Stimulation Virtual Reality) chambers were available now along with holoprojectors, cable-teleporters, mattercators of different types, mind suites, 123Dprinters, and a few others of which three were very exotic.

There were also service-supports to meet the special, separate, needs of zytants, hulktants and other mutageltants.

The ASMM (Age of Scientific Miracles and Madness) did do some good but also bad with ongoing effects. To most, around the world, it was of very little impact when it came to the benefits but was too often a detriment to their very lives. The ASMM was a time of amazing confusion, conflict and even chaos that Doomsday survivors find hard to discover much about including elite factions.

Zerotech caused zombies, as in zerogas and the glimmering, are now called zeroombies with the two 'o' being separately pronounced as in two distinct syllables as in the double u in the word vacuum.

Edited the quoted saying in Post #24 to make it as I had originally intended it to be.

[1] Trenchzone Troubles [16.1][19]

Zeroombies ruthlessly fought mutiradghoulers that brutally hit back. Bodies heaped up only to be fallen upon and eaten. At times both a zeroombie, and mutighouler, would share the same corpse while ignoring each other. The mutiradtants were immune to the influence of the undeath glimmering because of their profoundly changed nature that was a little part undead. The glimmering fled from them instead of being gulped down by them.

Was that a clue to the real nature of mutiradtants? Had their creation involved at least a small influence of the use of undeath zerogas weapons or other zerotech of multiple types? It had long been conjectured, by a fair number of factions, that this was the case.

Creatures mauled the enemy, driven by antipathy beyond nature just as they were unnatural, as in the mutighoulers and antinatural as in the glimmering, zerogas, infested zeroombies. Mercy was not even comprehended by the entities let alone having any influence upon them. It was an insanely extreme situation.

The fighting raged on until both sides retreated when the thunder-lightening grew worse. It frightened, the normally fearless mutighoulers, and the zeroombies had a bad habit of attracting lightening to themselves even with there being lightening rods in the same area.

Such skirmishes were happening in places across the Trenchzone but other actions were also taking place.

*****

Survival, of the fittest, over resources, that had always been the norm on the Warworld even before it gained that name; except that after Doomsday new elements were often added that were not natural and that were truly terrible in their ramifications. Mutiradghoulers were but one, of too many of them, as were the zeroombies.

Have changed Forcetechies to Forcerangers being units heavier than the Forcescouts but lighter than the Forcetroopers; this is because the Maishanforce needs more combat units but the Forcerangers also do search-rescue missions. Have changed Forcelogisticers to Forcelogicers just to shorten the name. Forcelogicers are to do with logistics, as in service-support, and Forcetechies would be part of that bigger unit.

[1] Trenchzone Troubles [17.1][21]

To Marshal Saraa Maishan came news of trouble breaking out in the SeekaCitadel as a group of aggressive rebels first started to cause disturbance before being easily exposed as strange, shapeshifting, infiltrators. Banjosam was with her and assisted her with fresh information but only as much as any Banjobander was allowed to release to a select few mortals.

They were identified as outworlder entities known as Mimicites of the Dimensionites. Into the massive, complicated, depths of the NewPentagon the survivors vanished away. Attempts to find them failed but some interesting discoveries were made during the attempts to do so. They were more so thanks a flash that had gone through the citadel at the same time as one had gone through the MFB.

Militiaguards, of the local Militiaguardia of the NWDR (NewWashington Democratic Republic), had previously retreated from the Trenchzone while doing so with out warning. This had not pleased the SeekaOrder but there was not much that they could do about it and they were very busy meeting more pressing challenges.

So when PrimeElder Rowyn Maishan, of the SeekaElders, got a high priority message from the newly elected NWDR President he was not pleased by its arrogance and poorly hidden, threatening, nature; the foolish demands were for the SeekaOrder to totally surrender to the NWDR President at once.

President George Jackson was a tall, broad shouldered man, on a 3Dscreen but it was not hard to discover that he was a computer generated illusion. It was of good, but far from great, computer special effects and the incoming transmission had not come from the direction of the NWDR Territories.

The PrimeElder wondered if that attempted deception was related to that of the too easily detected shapeshifter infiltrators. If so, how so, and why the easy failure of both efforts; had it been just incompetence or had their been behind it an attempt to make the Seekars less cautious but if so the idea failed.

What came up was the idea that the flash incidents had helped, in some unknown fashion, to enable both Maishanforcers and HulkSmashers to more easily detect them. While it was a good lead it was one that led to more questions than answers.

[1] Trenchzone Troubles [18.1][22]

Cableporters (cable-teleporters) became active between the MFB, Hulkbase, SeekaCitadel and SBC1232 but also with the StagingBase, that being a great surprise to the SeekaOrder and Maishanforce.

Cableporters cost a large amount of electricity to operate and, because of the need for extra safety, sending lifeforms was more energy expensive than doing so with nonliving ones; there were exceptions to the rule such as people wearing special cableporter suits or the teleported being exotic quasilifeforms or neolifeforms.

CPST (cableporter suit) wearing couriers travelled, almost instantly, between the first four destinations as did robots with cargo. As yet none were going to the Seekar StagingBase and the first would be a big expeditionary group as the target base had become silent, neither sending or receiving communications with the SeekaOrder.

Preparations were being made to send a moderately large, well protected, expedition to the SeekaOrder StagingBase.

There were other cableporter destinations, showing in the menus, but for the moment they remained heavily locked off from use by extremely sophisticated codes. While some of those destinations were straight forwardly identified, the majority had coded labels.

*****

Like many other supertech inventions, of the ASMM, the Cableporter Networks were supposed to be amazing gifts to humanity; it was too bad that they were hurried into use causing terrible accidents, becoming useful to organised crime due to poor security, and having many other troubles. The result was that most were deactivated and locked down while all were being reworked. Doomsday got in the way of the completion of that optimistic program that itself was suffering from many difficulties.

Other such, problematic, wondertech were people personality Personabots, servile sexdroid androids, budget priced antigravity Hiflycars, Autorobohomes, Gourmetgo Cloneflesh, Livingbreathing Taxicabs, Doitself Rejuvenation Kits, Harmonlybad Autorobotic Security Netsystems and so much else. The result was that most people would not even use such wondertech even if it was offered for free and none could truly blame them for that.
