Yes man as a companion

Anyone ever notice Yesman is disturbed to multiple Securitrons yet we can't take at least one copy of him with us to travel?

 

Yeah he's in the mainframe (depending on what questline you follow) so he can use the wireless network to jump to securitrons (like in the ending of the indpendent quest). I thought there was a mod or two of him as a (basic) companion already out there, but yeah I want to make one for a companion as well to an extension of hte independent questline after the main game. Want to brainstorm some ideas. I started work on the cut marilyn securitron a while back, both could be interesting traveling companio0ns.

How bout this for an idea pitch? a securitron companion that unlocks after "the house always wins 1"

 

Mr House recognizes you're worth as an employee not to mention deadly skills that he develops a securitron with a simulacrum of the courier's like he did with Jane's personality in hopes that even after the courier has died of natural causes, House would still have a dependable and flexible pawn at his disposal, only problem is that the brain scan technology is lost to house. As a alternative he has the securitron programmed with a learning AI and orderssuggests the courier to take it along on their adventures so that it would gradually imitate the courier. He even installs a rudimentary personality so the courier wouldn't be too disturbed by the it.

 

The courier simulacrum securitron or CourierTron is friendly and does not register any program with it's ultimate function and will at certain locations, ask the courier questions on hypothetical situations of what the courier might do in certain situations like:

 

"when given between 2 people to save from a speed train which do you save" or "do you let the guilty man go free or not?"

 

(Possible courier replies might include: whichever gets me the most loot)

 

CourierTron would also attempt small talk to sate it's curiousity of the world which would lead to it developing a will separate from it's core programming (the robots get a soul scenario a sappy direction i know but still a good trope).

 

The how his companion quest would begin is that CourierTron informs you that they have received a signal from Mr.House stating he's found a replacement for the brain scanning machine. Both of them go to a basement (either preexisting locations or a newly degenerated dungeon) which is radio shielded thus blocking Mr House's connection to CourierTron.

 

The both of you find the device (it's might reuses the autodoc asset) in working order.

 

At this comes the divergent companion quest choice. CourierTron is reluctant to perform the procedure as it will overwrite the personality and memory that it's developed so far but will ultimately defer to you since it's been programmed to obey the courier and it sees you as a role model of sorts.

 

IF you choose not go with the brain scan CourierTron will sabotage the machine and rewrite it's own memory to lie to Mr House about the machine being already damaged when they exit the dungeon.

(Companion Perk gained: -TBA- CourierTron has....something?)

IF you choose to go with the brain scan CourierTron will undergo a memory wipe and new personality and Mr House will congradulate you both on a job well done and would award either a unique weapon or caps for the troubles.

(Companion Perk gained: -Courier 2.0- CourierTron does more damage)

 

though now that i think about it, it may be too complicated and implossible to implement. There will be playthroughs where people will house so there's that problem.

 

Maybe have them follow you regardless (because of the follow courier programming) and the location with the brain scan device was something CourierTron received from the prospector's Mr House had previously employed and they don't tell the courier until they reach the device in person for the courier to help decided.
