That's really weird that you get a solid connection from Prague but a bad connection to the US servers. Can you re-do the download tests and see if it's any different now? Are you using a VPN perhaps?

Sure.

 

I was not using a VPN when I sent my initial cry for help.

 

However, I'm seeing slightly faster speeds with Opera's web browser VPN enabled.

 

Approximately 300 Kilobytes per second faster but still not the 2 Megabytes per second I was getting, sans VPN, two weeks ago.

 

I'll post my download scores without and with VPN.

Bizarre indeed!

VPN is clearly the better experience even in general nexus browsing.

Both download tests were done at noon CDT.
