Reply to Private Messages (PMs) In Email

This may not be possible with the way the forum is but it would be handy if you are able to reply to a private message from your email inbox by simply replying to the email. I for one would like this since it will save me time on not having to login and reply to the private message and I can instantly reply to the PM within my email inbox.

 

There is two ways to do this, one is to mask the emails so if your email address is [email protected], when you reply to the PM it will send a email to the other person using the your NexusMods username such as [email protected]. This will ensure your email is safe and your email address does not get exposed.

 

The other way is to not mask your email so when the other person recieved the replied PM it will come from [email protected]. I would perfer option #1 for privacy reasons.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm afraid the IPBoard software we're using for the forums doesn't currently support this feature. Perhaps when we move to a new messaging system this can be a consideration.

1. I don't WANT my personal email address being provided to PM'ers. Ever. I'll give people that information directly myself if I want them to have it (which I generally don't. :armscrossed: )

 

2. "Obfuscated" email addresses are more-and-more likely to be blocked as anti-spam techniques at the ISP/mail handler-level improve. Unless "nexusmods.com" (or its provider) actually operated the mail server and did the re-packaging of the incoming message, (lots of custom code needed there!) many systems would note that the "From" address isn't real and drop it.

 

3. Logging-in to reply to a PM isn't a very big deal (to me.) Honestly.
