Bizarre aim swings with mining laser discovered over the last few days

Hi -

I didn't play NMS for a week-ish, started it up yesterday, and I noticed something utterly bizarre: the terrain manipulator aims and fires OK, but the mining laser and guns on the multi-tool, when fired, either swing the reticle upwards like 60 degrees, or drop it down similarly. I have not changed anything ... and the mining laser etc are now useless.

Has anyone seen this?

Yes I have plenty of mods but I have no idea what would cause this.

Hi cfrensley

Yes I have plenty of mods but I have no idea what would cause this.

With updates comes possible changes to mods so the best thing if you're having issues is first to disable all the mods and see if the issue persists. Plus it's a good idea to see if any of the mods you're using have been updated, but you may have to give modders a day or two maybe more depending on the modder.

I've not decompiled the update yet as I usually wait for it to settle but if you've disabled the mods and the issue persists then you'll just have to get used to NMS and it's bugs which sadly is the "Norm" these days and years.

One tip is I backup the game before an update so I can still play the previous games ie: Visions, Beyond, Mech 2.42 although offline but at least I can play them until the newer game is fixed. Glad I did because the game is unstable and has issues, no surprise.

It is the faster movement mod that was causing this issue - disabling that mod alone removed the problem. This stinks, because the faster movement mod is nice.

Have you used mod conflict detector? If you use it and find the conflicting files and zip and send them I could merge them for you, another mod is probably modifying GCPLAYERGLOBALS.GLOBAL.MBIN or it's out of date. :ermm:
