Help, hanging herb Dried Elves Ear texture broken

So I really need some help... I have a huge mod pack that is almost done and looks great, but for some reason the texture for the hanging dried elves ear is the broken purple texture, and I can't find where the default texture is located nor what mods may be responsible >_< AND I can't find any mod out there to overwrite it. Anyone have any ideas? All my other textures look great it seems to be just that.

The default should be textures/plants/herbs01.dds (and /herbs01_n.dds) which I believe can be found in the Skyrim - Textures5.bsa archive.

If you extract that and then put it in the proper file path, as a loose file, the game should find it.

This may change more than just the elves ear, though. If it does, depending on whether you like the change, and/or the effect of any other mods, you may wish to create a copy of each, name them something unique, extract the mesh from

meshes/plants/hangingelvesear01

and use nifskope to reassign the new custom textures to it. Or you could use creation kit to create a texture set and apply it to the mesh in the kit itself.

Ok. Solved it. So many people sod off - leaving most of us lost. So I thought - No. I wont do that. I can spare 20 minutes writing this guide.

(I realised that the help I was going to need was going to be massive and likely ignored. So I just tried it all myself.)

hangingelvesear01.nif was found in ...steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition\Data\meshes\plants

I installed nifskope using this as a guide to get setup:

I then extracted the two dds files (herbs01_n.dds and herbs01.dds) from "Skyrim - Textures5.bsa" as thumbincubation said above.

So I had to install BAE v0.10-974-0-10.7z and extract the two DDS files. I then placed them in the ..steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition\Data\textures\plants

Opening up the hangingelvesear01.nif with nifskope i could apply the textures.

There are two parts to the model click on one (the leaves) and then the other (stem).

(This bit took me HOURS! but now i've found it - easier for future.)

Once you've clicked on each segment within the render window- the left side of NifSkope menu will show some "stuff" all of which makes no sense. But using the little down arrows, i could expand each area. what you need to look for is something called:

"BSShaderTextureSet"

When you click on that, you will see some more "stuff" appear at the bottom.

What was assigned to it - I could tell was wrong. Cant remember the names of the dds assigned to it - but from this I could tell where i needed to put the two correct dds files, herbs01_n.dds and herbs01.dds.

textures\plants\herbs01.dds

and then underneath

textures\plants\herbs01_n.dds

remember to do each segment -the steam and the leaves.

two dds files for each segment.

saved. and YAY!!! all is well!!!!!

Sigh. I need a drink!!!

I have a simpler solution.

Take the complete file paths of both the mesh and its textures (the ones mentioned above) and zip them, then install with a mod manager of your choice.

The path should look like this (Data>Textures/meshes>Plants>"FILENAME")
