You know a good mod  was Superheros for quake 2 OG I looked it up and fileplanet still has some Info on it.

 that's about it nothing more to add but FilePlanet had 1000s of mods for old quake I kind of miss that now.

I remember some other case of this network problem - but I don't remember the resolution. VPN required or something, if not a password problem.

Someone will soon give you an actual useful answer.
