Classic fantasy trope / cliche missing from Skyrim (Elder scrolls in general) which i'd like to see

The trope i'm talking about, is the good old fashioned damsel in distress.

Damsels in distress are a staple cliche of any fantasy / swords and sorcery epic and i'm sad to see that this is missing.

Yes you get the occasional rescue mission radiant quests, but these are flat, dull and not very immersive or realistic.

I would be very grateful to see this change, if someone was to create a mod which adds a new more immersive and realistic damsel in distress system, with new radiant quests and random encounters. New, more immersive and realistic poses / animations, clothing, accessories and sound effects for NPCs, to bring back that time told cliche.

I'm talking about rescuing damsels from dragon lairs, after defeting the dragon, rescuing damsels from bandit camps, rescuing them from the evil baron in his castle, save them from becoming a vampires / wearwolves dinner, etc, etc. Escorting them to safety for a fat reward from the jarl /family / whoever they belong to.

You could even add something for players, which would suit those who play as bandits / dark brotherhood / vampires / wearwolves / generally not nice guys themselves, which provides a mechanic where you can kidnap random NPCs and keep them held in one of your player homes / vampire lair / dark hovel, for ransom, for political gain, blackmail, bribery, whatever, or, for vampires and werewolves, just to snack on when feeling peckish.

As i said its a classic trope, which deserves a place in such an epic game. If it could be made available for consoles (XBone) that would be awesome.

Thanks for your time.

Well, I love every "new quest" ideas. But some well thought should be in place, for details.

You see, Skyrim lore is not well fitting for chivalry, and doesn't have barons, proper mages, knights and actually "feminine" women (bad English). It is nordic-based and women here are mighty as bears (and vanilla ones are ugly as ones).

So there is not much NPCs for chivalry rescue, I mean Elisif is the only one fitting... and not much holds and jarls for kidnapping/rescues to be bored too fast...

So to actually make such thing before Beyond Skyrim's High Rock knights and stuff. I can suggest to use Oblivions, mostly cutted, Knights of the Thorn (wiki: https://elderscrolls.fandom.com/wiki/Knights_of_the_Thorn). In Oblivion it is a small group of beginners located in Cheydinhal. In Oblivion events it was considered a club of "Frawil's drinking partners". But they showed some value during Oblivion Gates in Cheydinhal. So we can easily assume, that now it is somewhat a guild of knights. Full implementation of the guild in Cyrodiil better be left for Beyond Skyrim team, but some "member involvement" in Skyrim can be present. And after Beyond Cyrodiil release such mode can be expanded dramatically... mostly because they are expanding towns and there are barons, lords, fantasy princesses-like maidens...

My two septims for story: One member of Knights of the Thorn, a complete novice or knight apprentice, in need to make him a name. He is a clumsy, coward and stuff. So he have heared that jarl of Solitude, beautiful young maiden have lost her husband. So he thought it is his chance... Dovakiin helps him to get recognition in Skyrim (without knowing his true goal). He is from Cyrodiil, so he doesn't know there is that Solitude, who is that jarl, Dovakiin eventually helps him with all that... it can be well-played for fun like "I need to save a beautiful maiden from Ro... Rurstead...Rumestead... can you, good traveler, accompany me?" and it turns out to be and old, grumpy farm worker (man) with drinking problem, or a hugraven in the Reach.

Meanwhile this "knoght" could tell Dovakiin how popular and rich he is back in Cyrodiil (lie and stuff), for future Beyond Skyrim integration...

Hope my rumbling will help someone to come up with idea.

Hi @martinezer, thanks for you input, i'm aware of Skyrims lack of chivalry, but my comments about rescuing damsels from evil barons etc and creating new radiant quests were just an examples of the trope.

I specifically mentioned radiant quests so its something that could be done throughout a playthrough, even if its just the existing rescue missions improved. Thanks for the support though

Not quite what you were asking for but this mod has a quest to rescue a bunch of tavern wenches from slavers and a repeatable quest to do so.

Even Brunhilde needed rescuing from a dragon so it was a viking myth thing

Thanks for the heads up. I'm aware of this mod, however i play on XBone and i can only find a non-quest version on Bethesda.net.

You're right, it's not exactly what i'm looking for, but does cover part of it, if someone would be good enough to port this version for XBone, it would be a good stop gap for the meantime. Thanks for your help

I do what i can. Your idea actually sounds pretty fun. The notice board also has a "rescue the citizen" quest like the companions one but the citizen is totally random. I have no idea if its on XBone though.

nexus link but maybe it'll still be helpful.

Yeah, that also looks good, but i fear the quests themselves would be the same as vanilla and theres too many other quests.

What i'm after is something specifically aimed at damsels in distress and is more immersive and realistic than vanilla, in terms of animations, clothing, accessories, interactions, sound effects, random encourters etc etc. I understand though, that i may not get everything, if anything, this is more of a wish rather than a request.

Immersive wenches has been the closest so far. Its just a shame i can't find the quest version for xbox

I do really appreciate you trying to help, so thanks
