Candles, ENB, and Lag

I am currently having a problem with my enb where whenever I face a large amount of candles I got from 50+fps down to 7 or less. It goes away if I turn away from the candles. Now, it's only happening with groups of candles such as Aventus doing the black sacrament with the circle of candles and other similar sets ups. I'm not affected by candles on the enchanting table and such. It's also not the ENB preset I am using since I've tried several different presets, resulting in the same issue.

I am using ELFX and I'm not sure if that could be an issue or not as I've not brought myself to try again light mod. Suppose I should test that out. Though has anyone had this issue and maybe know what's causing it or how to fix it? It's driving me bonkers and I am almost done with my LO and wanna figure this out.

Though I am not an ELFX user, our rigs are similar and the fps drop from being near certain light sources is nowhere near as severe for me.
I believe this is largely due to using the mod ENB Light (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/22574) and disabling [COMPLEXFIRELIGHTS]
under the [EFFECTS] section of the ENB settings. I also lowered my shadow map resolution in the SkyrimPrefs.ini file under the 'Display' section for the sake of performance.

I don't know how much this information will help you out, but here are mods that I'm using that are related to this topic (in their current load order):

Relighting Skyrim (near the top)
Rudy HQ - More Lights for ENB
Luminosity (near the very bottom, just before ENB Lights)
ENB Lights (including the necessary patches, near the very bottom after all other lighting mods)

I currently use Cathedralist's ENB with the matching weather mod.

i know this is an old post but its right enb light i was having the same issue when i went to enchanting table i would get a solid 30 fps drop. turning off the complex fire lights solved it. only real fix would be going into creation kit and removing like half the candle lights on the enchanting tables. that or turn off complex fire lights but that also turns it off for everything else thats a bumnmer.

A few things that may help you narrow this down:

  • Candles are particle emitters. Your INI settings for max particles will affect this.
  • ENB Particle Lights "piggy-back" on the particle emitters. If you have this enabled, and a mesh is emitting an extreme amount of particles already, ENB Lights can cause further performance drops.
  • tl;dr play with your max particle INI settings to see if that helps

I know this is an old topic, but I have a fix and I want to share it with others, because nothing bugs me more than a thread with no official answer. If you are using an ENB, open up the ENB setting in game, look for advancedfirelights and advancedparticlelights, in both of those options there will be a big range option, disable those and it literally fixes any candle lag INSTANTLY. I want from 14 FPS at enchanting tables to 45 as soon as I toggles those two big ranges off.

This is the only thing that worked for me Thank You <3
