I cant get witcher 3 mods to work with vortex

Hey there!

 

I am new to vortex and waned to get a mod for witcher 3 working but i cant seem to get it.

 

So my game lies here: E:\TheWitcher3

 

In Vortex i watched the introduction tutorial and put the mod staging folder here: E:\Vortex Mods\{game}

 

I then installed the mod ("Fast travel anywhere" is what its called) and checked that it actually appeared in the E:\Vortex Mods\{game} folder.

 

Then I started the game and the mod did not work.

 

I looked up some videos about manual installing mods without vortex so i deinstalled the mod in vortex and put the file manually in E:\TheWitcher3\Mods and that did actually work then so the problem seems to be i vortex or in how i set up vortex.

 

So what can i do to get this right?

Witcher 3 needs to be on the same drive as your Windows "Documents" folder. Also, if you're using hardlink deployment, your mod staging folder needs to be on the same drive as Witcher 3.

Thanks for the answer, bt that didnt work.

I put the documents folder on the same drive: E:\Documents But the problem is the same. Any other ideas?

How did you move your Documents folder? There's a recommended procedure for moving the Windows default libraries. As for your mod staging folder, is "E:\Vortex Mods\{game}" the full path name? What deployment method are you using?

I went by a youtube tutorial. I right clicked ion the folder, then clicked on properties, the clicked on path and changed the path there to E:\Documents

 

As I changed tthe path of some of the other folders, ill list all of them here:

 

The game itself: E:\Games\TheWitcher3

 

The game´s mods folder in which a manual intallation of mods works: E:\Games\TheWitcher3\Mods

 

The documents folder: E:\Documents

 

There´s this E:\Documents\The Witcher 3 in the documents folder, i dontr really get, why.

 

The mod staging folder: E:\Vortex Mods\witcher3 (The mod is in there, vortex says its enabled, but as i said, it doesnt work)

 

The download folder within vortex: C:\Users\Fin\AppData\Roaming\Vortex\downloads

 

 

I shoul add that i bought the game in the epic store and use the epic launcher if that matters.

 

 

You asked what deployment method i used. I dont understand that question.. Do you mean how i downloaded the mod? Not manually but by clicking on the Vortex Button next to the manual button.Than i installed it using the popups in vortex

Your paths seem to be correct.

 

You moved Documents in the correct manner.

 

The Witcher 3 folder in Documents is placed there by the game itself. It contains the game saves and essential information for the game's operation.

 

As for the Epic launcher, early on there were problems using it with Vortex. I don't know if those problems remain. You may want to raise that particular question in a new thread on this forum. Or maybe some kind passerby will help us with this matter.

 

For deployment method, go to Vortex dashboard ---> Settings ---> Mods ---> Deployment Method. The method selected should be either Hardlink Deployment or Move Deployment. Don't use Symlink Deployment. Make sure the "Apply" button is greyed out (or "oranged out," as the case may be). If not, then select the deployment method you want and press "Apply." While on the Mods page, check whether the location of the Mod Staging Folder is correct.
