Request for assistance changing 3d models during loadscreens

Recommended Posts

Hello I'm trying to replace FO4's loadscreen objects with my own in the game's loadscreens. I sent it into the render window and I right clicked on it and selected create loadscreen from that menu. The object appeared in the dropdown in the loadscreen creation window. I selected it and set the transform to none. this did not load the 3d image. This 3d object has a custom texture in it that does load in game and in the render window. I am not certain how to make the objects I create load in the loadscreen. Does anyone know how to do this? thank you very much.

I hope you've already found an answer by now. However...

I've never done this before myself, but I believe the process would be pretty straightforward. Under the CK Object Window's "Miscellaneous" category, there is a subcategory called "LoadScreen." Under this category, you can add new loadscreens, add appropriate text for them, and assign a loadscreen .nif for them (this should be whatever static object whose .nif you want to use). You also add a "transform," but unfortunately, I don't know much about that except that its purpose it to constrain the maximum/minimum zoom and rotation of the camera.

You can also add conditions. I guess you probably already know about conditions, but these are essentially the requirements that must be met before the load screen displays. For example, whether the player has completed a certain quest.

If you do all of this correctly, it should work. I suppose you've already done all that, so I looked around a bit and found this...

This page includes a downloadable .pdf tutorial on how do make new loading screens. It's really in-depth and also covers the processes of modeling new scenes from scratch, so hopefully it can fill in any information that I'm unable to provide myself.

Good luck out there!

Since you said you're doing this with custom model assets, here's the process I've used

-Make a static object. Point the model to the custom NIF. My assets all use materials to apply the texture, but I'm not sure if that's necessary

-Then make a loadscreen object, and point the loading screen NIF to the static you made

-You'll need a transform to orient the object correctly since it's very likely to display not in the correct orientation

This has also worked for doing custom magazine load screens. Take the standard magazine static object, copy it, apply a material swap to the model in the static, and then copy the loadscreen object for magazines and change the static object to the custom magazine static

I'm currently trying to figure out how to make custom character models that can show up as a load screen. For the most part, it looks to be very similar to making custom models work as load screens, but the character model just needs to be rigged and posed before exporting to NIF.
