Doubt about Vortex - reinstalling Skyrim

So, for the first time in history I have managed to get Skyrim fully modded to my taste. However, in the process I have tinkered quite a lot with installing and uninstalling mods, and I thought it would be a good idea to reinstall the game so everything is as neat as possible.

The thing is, I don't really know how Vortex works, and I wondered if leaving all the mods installed and just reinstalling the game would be a good idea, or whether I should uninstall all the mods beforehand, even if it takes some extra time getting everything ready again afterwords.

Thank you very much!

Uninstall the previous mods, you want to start with a clean DATA folder, free of mods, because There's No Mod Manager out there that will automatically know about the mods you had installed before you installed the mod manager.
You're just asking for a world of trouble by leaving old mods installed, and then installing a new mod manager.

Best thing to do, Delete the game's DATA folder, then have Steam Verify your Files and it will restore your Data folder to "Just installed" state.

OP says nothing about installing a mod manager. The question was about a reinstall of the game, Skyrim.

I'm going by this section here, as it sounds like OP wants to start using Vortex, and he's not sure how Vortex works, meaning that he doesn't know how a future installed Vortex will work with already installed mods, so he wants to "prep" for Vortex properly.

Sorry, I guess I didn't express myself correctly. I already have Vortex installed, and pretty much all the mods I'll be using (except DynDOLOD and a Bashed Patch). What I meant is that I don't know how Vortex would manage my installed mod if I reinstalled just the game, leaving the mods as they are now (and saving the hassle of having to reinstall them all).

When I said that I didn't know how Vortex works I meant that I have no clue about the inner workings or the program.

Yea, as I said in my first post, Vortex will just ignore the mods because they weren't installed with Vortex, which is going to cause you trouble in the future, because Vortex, like other mod managers keep track of each file they install/uninstall, so if you happen to install a mod with Vortex that overwrites the files from a mod you already have installed, and then you uninstall it, those files from the preinstalled mods, are going to disappear and mess up your pre-installed mods, because Vortex doesn't know about those files.

In other words, leaving mods installed that you installed manually, or with another mod manger, then using another mod manager is eventually going to cause a lot of headaches.

Either stick with the mods you already have installed, or uninstall all your old mods with whichever mod manager you installed them with, and start CLEAN.

Thing is, they were installed with Vortex. It's the only mod manager I have been using for years. Again, sorry if I didn't express myself clearly.

My doubt is if I could leave the mods installed in Vortex and reinstall just Skyrim, or if I should uninstall them in Vortex, then reinstall Skyrim, and then install them again in Vortex (which would require to go through several FOMOD installers again and rearranging dependencies between mods).

Thank you for taking the time to answer.

If you didn't uninstall Vortex, then all of the info that Vortex needs should still be in the C:\users\YOURNAME\appdata\roaming\Vortex folder.
