how to copy paste landscaping/terrain from a custom worldspace to the Mojave?

Recommended Posts

So I'm a big fan of the design of the indian springs mods worldspace: https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/55611 and considering how the mod is no longer being developed, i'd like to incorporate it into my own project to an extent. Specifically, I don't plan on using most of the buildings, but i'd like to take the mods general design of it's landscape and terrain (i.e it's mountains/roads/heightmap/terrain and all that) and try to put it right in the vanilla Mojave worldspace in the northwest of the map so they player can explore it within the same map without any loading screens.

Is this sort of thing even possible? if so, how can I easily go about recreating the terrain and landscape of the indian springs worldspace within the Mojave wasteland towards the northwest of the map? is there anyway I can expand the size of the Mojave worldspace to make room for the stuff from indian springs? and can I just copy the whole indian springs worldspace and just paste it right into the mojave? if not, can I copy/paste certain exterior cells and their general layout? or will I legit have to rebuild all the mountains and terrain from scratch?

Short answer: Yes, you can ... in general. With caveats. You asked several different though related things, some of which (like expanding the size of the Mojave worldspace) are not possible as stated. BUT ... there are usually ways around those limitations. Perhaps not as "cleanly" as you would like, but that's the GECK.

Please see the 'Worldspaces' and 'Copying interior or exterior cells between plugins' sections of the wiki "Getting started creating mods using GECK" article. (Those were written by madmongo, who will probably have something further to say on the subject.)

thanks for the resources and advice, they should be pretty useful for me. to narrow down my question, I'm looking to copy an exterior cell from a custom worldspace and place/paste it into the vanilla WastelandNV worldspace with all of the objects/terrain it contains, preferably by replacing one of those unused "wilderness" cells beyond the games playable space.

Is there any way I can do this? if so, what's the best method for it?
