Startup Crash

Hi there modders, I've stumbled upon this strange issue while modding Fallout 3. I'm using Mod Organizer 2.

The game simply crashes on startup (while loading the main menu, showing the "please stand by" screen), I've checked everything, it's not enb, not 4gb patch, not ini files and not mods either, at least not according to fo3edit. The only way the game works is through steam, using the game launcher. That would indicate that mods are the problem but again, fo3edit says otherwise. I'm not sure what the problem here is, any pointers are appreciated.

Mods just in case:

Your load list looks like it was sorted by LOOT. LOOT does not and never has sorted Fallout 3 mods correctly.

The positions of CRAFT and CALIBR need to be reversed.

FWE-Alternate Travel should be the last .esm/first.esp in the load list.

Fellout should be lower in the load list.

The FWE plugins should be in the same order as the game DLCs and grouped together, as shown on the mod page.

Any other mod with multiple plugins should be in the same order as the DLCs.

Compatibility patches must load after the last mod being patched.

Choose either Restore Tracers or Restore Tracers(automatics only), not both.

Choose either FWE-Project Beauty or FWE-Project Beauty (Followers Enhanced) not both. This patch will go after the last plugin being patched.

The entire mod description page must be read so that you understand how the mod is to be installed. The last correct entry you have is Unofficial Fallout3 Patch.

You did launch the game from the launcher before adding all you mods, didn't you?

Also, the game will probably freeze during the birth scene with the mods active.

If the game is installed in "Program Files" you will continue to have problems running the game. It needs to be installed in another location on your hard drive.

Can't trust LOOT I see, load order needs fixing then, I'll tell if that fixes the issue.

And yes, I launched the game before modding and no, not installed in program files, I'm not that new to modding. Fallout 3 has always given more trouble than others for some reason.

I manually ordered the loadlist into this, using your instructions, didn't fix the issue.

Craft and Calibr should load before FWE.esm

DarNifiedUIF3.esp should be first .esp in the load order.

Do not install the complete load order at once. You should play through the tutorial and until you exit the vault.

Start enabling the mods a couple at a time and check in the game to make sure they will work.

Got it, I'll rearrange those and yes, that would be smartest.

I'm still wondering why fo3edit doesn't give any errors, whenever a plugin has been an issue it has always notified of that, in New Vegas and Skyrim that is.

If the game runs through steam? and not through MO 2 that means it is a mod causing the problem

you disable all mods in mo 2 close mo 2 reopen it and run just the games launcher "First" through MO 2

Now, now mods test the game BY it's self "NO MODS"

if the game now loads? you have modd problems

if it does not load, you have to change the version of MO 2 or it's location where you have it installed at.

the only thing that prevents MO 2 from working correctly is permission issues with the OS.

Shove a usb adaptor on a 32gig card and install mo on that

sort and test run

see what happens.
