Palaiogos Posted July 30, 2020 Share Posted July 30, 2020 Hey guys, I'm having a problem with Fallout 4 where the game sometimes loads exterior cells. This is basically the problem: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I6aeg4DS08g. I don't have any texture mods though and I only run on ultra. I mean, my specs are certainly fine for ultra, so I don't understand why the exterior cells have to load. My specs are: i7-10750H @ 2.6 GHz, but is usually around 4.0 GHzRTX 2070 Super @ 6GBI run this game from an external hard drive. A LOT of data needs to be loaded in exterior cells, and transfer speed via USB...... ain't gonna cut it. But yeah, I tested my external hard drive on another game (Space Engineers) and load times went up like 5x than before. HeyYou Posted July 30, 2020 Share Posted July 30, 2020 SSD's have gotten dirt cheap of late. (and there are some really nice ones on sale in various places.) Playing from an internal SSD, or, even better, and internal M2 drive... DRAMATICALLY reduces load times. I have an Internal SSD, but I don't want to upgrade it rn bc my laptop is still on warranty. My second question is, why is it running so slow? I don't understand why it's loading so longFallout 4 is not the same engine as any other game you run (except and with a few variations Skyrim SE and Fallout 76) It is VERY hardware intensive and using an external USB HDD creates additional burden on the engine. This is not anything you can overcome by installing any additional software or mods. NOTE: Most Laptop retailers do not consider upgrading your HDD or RAM as a void of warranty, especially gaming laptops. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
