UI XML/Movement, only, are "locked up after ______ happens" bug

Hello

Wondering if many other people are having a lot of recurring problems with FO4 having a high chance of player actor's X-Y directional world movements and any menu feature that uses XML, only, locking up after any of the below things happen?:

  • Attempting to enter your PA suit at an angle the game doesn't like (ie; the front....is an obvious issue because the animation "auto-piloting" or whatever does that 1st Person handover and easily gets caught in an infinite pathing fail, thus locking up any player input until the game is completely closed and restarted AND only loading a savestate PRIOR to the state that you locked up on.)

  • Attempting to interact with a console in-game at an angle the game doesn't like, or if a chair/npc/object/lego is in the immediate area in front of said console when you engage it to hack/etc.

  • Using slm console access too often.Target seems to be fairly irrelevant when looking at causal factors and bug reproduction and i will occasionally get these script lockups from both the looksmirror and the 'slm <ID> 1' command if i'm not careful with them.

  • Being in flycam 'tgp 1' mode and an auto or accidental save captures you in an "unnatural" player state

  • On rarer occasions, exiting scope sights; exiting PA with NPCs or other PA nearby... you get the idea by now I think - LOL

If this is a known bug for many and easily resolved, I apologize in advance, but I'm fairly new to FO4 still, and I did try and search everywhere for tidbits of info first, without much luck because of the very wide array of similar, yet different problems other folks are having, muddies the waters a bit when trying to find something this specific.. heh.

I usually just cope with this reality of my FO4 gameplay and try to avoid getting cornered into eventually doing one of the above....but some are eventually unavoidable, like exiting scope sights and i've lost a lot of hours in saves to this bug being the end of the road in a few cases and i'd like to get through the whole game without that happening again, if I can. -_-

My uneducated guess is that there's some fatal script error(Papyrus?) caused by these events. That would explain why the game is still "alive" and un-frozen, but you are hopelessly anchored in place regardless of loading a different save. Also, common troubleshooting tricks to force GUI script restarts in-game via fast travel loading that is engaged through 'coc' console commands, ....<catches breath> ....does not work on this bug. I always have to completely close the game and then restart F4SE to get movement/menus back up on existing savestates.

All that being said, my hope is that i'm just stupidly-overlooking an easy long-term fix for this and someone can point me in the right direction.

Thanks

vB

Edit:

I *currently* use vortex for mod management. It's up to date.

I don't think mods have anything to do with this, because it happens in a fresh, updated vanilla install with the same frequency and reproductive patterns as a well traveled, 150+ mod install file.

First off, too much computer information. Nobody wants to read all that.

Now for your problem: did you do anything else to your game? Whatever's happening to your game should not happen as commonly as you imply, especially on a vanilla install.
