use of suggestive debate topic title

some debate topic titles seem to me more a try to confirm an already unalterable point of view of a topic launcher or to include suggestive content as a fact before the debate starts.

so i would like to debate about this observation and if this is coincidence or intention spreading polarizing or suggestive content already in the debate title.

my two examples:

1. "chinese virus - how serious ?" instead of "corona virus - how serious ?"

2. "why is 'communism' a bad word" instead of "is 'communism' a bad word ?"

Click bait titles, just like newspaper headlines, or Youtube video's. Plus if someone wants a debate, perhaps they wish to set their position from the beginning?

I also don't see any real problem with the 2 examples you gave.

Viruses are often colloquially named after the country of their origin, or animal origin. In fact "corona" is a very poor word to use, if you are refering to the current virus getting all the press.

In most English speaking countries (one of which the Nexus is based) and in most English language forums, "communism" is considered bad, so by association, so is the word.

yes, i suppose they want to set their position already within the title.

"corona or covid 19" is the only official and common description i know. the first time i heard from it as a 'china virus' was reading fox news and a trump twitter post . nowbody knows exactly where the virus was speaded first (probably in china). as far as i know we only know where it significantly broke out first. only trump and some followers seem to know exactly without any scientific evidence so far while ignoring the official wording. but science seems overrated in the last years at least in the u.s. ...

yeah, seems so with communism and also with socialism thinking of the soviet union and old eastern europe. and what about capitalism ?

The first reported cases were in Wuhan China. There were no other reported cases for some time thereafter. Isn't it a reasonable assumption that it originated there??

And then we have.... It originated in bats. Now, I see articles saying it didn't, but, don't offer any other theories. (aside from a bio-warfare lab.......) This is probably one of those things we will never discover. My main concern is that we find a vaccine for it, and have it go the way of polio, or smallpox..... But then I hear that it easily mutates, much like the flu.... so, the vaccine may be effective against one strain, but, not against others. Another story goes that we will eventually build up 'herd immunity', and the virus will die out from a lack of suitable hosts.

Of course, we are still seeing infection rights climbing, right along with the body count. From the numbers I have found, it seems to be somewhat worse than the spanish flu from the post WWI era, but, medical science has advanced quite a bit since then, so it may actually be MUCH worse. Something we won't know until this is all history. (and likely not for several years afterwards.)

i assume you want to say that there were no other widespread cases identified as the first covid 19 in wuhan so far. what does this say about the origin and probably some not reported cases of the virus and the very first infection ? at least this was the reason why the official wording is not wuhan or china virus. ignoring that for political reasons or for reelection purposes is just embarassing!

maybe or even probably nobody has noticed the first human infection because of minor symptoms. thinking crude like trump i can just assume that an us resident in wuhan was the first one spreading it to the wuhan population - who knows - you ? trump? and why not ? seems you are sure like trump what you are talking about ? i recommend what scientists worldwide write and not what trump or other ignorant chatterer assume.

so why ignoring the offcial wording 'covid 19' ? just to show to be ignorant as so many blinded trump and right wing follower in the u.s.?

Wow. You really have it in for Trump, and anyone that might even remotely prefer him to what the Dems have to offer....... There is likely a 12 step program for the irrational hatred you show here.....

Well, lets think about this a bit. A virus likes to spread, there weren't ANY widespread cases reported before Wuhan. It is a simple matter to look at the spread of the disease, and see that the epicenter of the infection was indeed Wuhan China. So, your supposition that it originated elsewhere has zero evidence, or even logic, to support it.

This is actually completely off topic, but I guess if the OP wants to go down this path.

Coronavirus or Covid-19 actually has the official designation of SARS-CoV-2.

It's a mutation of the SARS virus created in a lab in Wuhan China. The same lab IIRC discovered or at least researched SARS and Covid viruses, and was known to be ... less than exemplary in their safety and containment proceedures.

This also isn't the first "Wuhan" virus to escape the same lab.

The first human cases of the current variation of Covid were believed to have been diagnosed in the town of Wuhan, China, in 2019 and it's general practise in the scientific community to name a new strain of virus after the place it was first registered.

President Trump, was simply following the wording and advice from the WHO, and his so called "expert" advisors, all of which have done nothing but give poor advice, and perpetuated and lengthened the diseases lifespan.

oh i really love a debate with some trump lovers ? here.

so let us go down this path together with public available information!

trump and some others call the covid 19 disease or SARS-CoV-2 virus china virus correct ?

if you know how to use a link just klick and you see the official naming. it is so simple but even trump is not able to open it or ignores it! we probably all know the reasons.

i say it is the trump virus because 150000 u.s. residents are dead due to covid 19 and because of that i personally ignore the official naming to show my respect to so many u.s. people who died because of an ignorant u.s president and many ignorant followers still trying to play down the pandemic with fake arguments.

i do not hate trump. he just shows that he is a miserable clown without showing any strategy for his country and for the future. it is just so sad that one man destroys all what the united states stand for.

i really hope for you that this ends soon!

if you still try to defend trump you really shoud see the trump/chris wallace live fox tv interview so you know who you are defending. I'm really sad how people can be so blind and ignorant but thanks to democrathy every vote counts and i hope that the good sense wins.

It really doesn't matter who is in the whitehouse. This particular virus kills people, regardless of their political affiliation. Woodrow Wilson (a democrat) was president when the spanish flu took a bite out of the population. In two waves.

And in all reality, Trump could have locked down the entire country, told everyone to stay at home, disallowed any travel, or social gatherings, and what would have been the result? The virus would have been contained, until the lockdown was lifted.... and then it would spread, just like it is now. Lockdowns, social distancing, etc, aren't really going to make that much difference in the long run. The disease isn't going to magically disappear, it is going to run it's course, regardless. The only thing we are changing is the timeline. We are simply delaying the inevitable. That's it.
